2002 vw jetta, gas smell & shaking after 60mph

Well if the check engine light is on then there is something wrong, now you need the engine control module scanned for fault codes to begin to understand the problem that turned the light on, you need an OBD2 code reader (about $35.00) as a minimum to read the codes.

1999 VW jetta TDI

p1248 is in the same error codes as the rest now i have been a mechanic for plenty of years and i will tell you it will be the glow plugs they have a certin limit to glow to start the car if they are worn or nearly gone they wont hold all the fire in them ,,,,Injection start control deviation means the car is not getting even to kick start it it maitanes and shuts the engine down if there is a problem i suggest you changed the plugs and see how you go here is a link to see http://www.patentstorm.us/patents/5778852/description.html

2002 vw jetta vr6 no start no crank, but able to pop start

Start by checking the switch above the clutch pedal ... I have seen where they come loose, brake or move and when you push in the clutch it doesn't engage the safety switch all the way.

I have a 2002 VW Jetta and the temperature gauge keeps going up and down... Is this something to worry about ?

Replace the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor. ECT sensor is placed in the right back side of the cylinder head on 2002 VW Jetta 1.9 TDI. See picture below:

See these items:-

The starter must have been bad due to the water.

Bad PCM or ignition coil.

Corroded battery cables.

See timing belt.

03 jetta shut off while driving.

Check the load reduction relay. I had this happen twice and repaired twice on my TDI mk IV. It throws no codes and almost has to be witnessed by a mechanic to be believed.
