Hi, Stephan for this scenario you will need your service manual that has all fastener torque specs and a wiring diagram in the back pages, parts fiche, and owners manual if you can not find the best tool you ever bought for your Harley, despair not, for a mere zero $0 you can download another one.

Most common problem is the tension-er pulley is bad remove the belt and check to see if any pulleys have play in them see if they wiggle back and forth normally the idler pulley bearing wears out and causes the belt to ride at a slight angle marking it throw off the belt. hope this helps.

There is a nice writeup buletin on this repair, you need to remove driveshaft and split it in the joint area to be able to replace the center support bearing. I did this twice already on my 99ML320.
You can find all the info with pictures in your local library computer under alldata automotive repair. Or go to mercedes forum sites. Good luck, Bernard

Check the wiring harness, you will have to get under the truck. Its gonna be a wire that all your lights share like a ground wire or a dirty harness plug.

SOURCE: oil is leaking from the
There is a seal right behind the shifter. You can replace this seal without having to pull anything more than the shift lever off the shaft. Loosen and remove the bolt. Mark the case or something so that you can remember where to put the shifter back on and remove the shifter from the shaft. Using a screwdriver slip it between the seal and the shaft and work the seal out of the cover. Try not to scar up the shaft or the case. Once you have it out, slip the new seal over the shaft with it facing in the propter direction and use a deep well socket or something to drive the new seal into the cover. Replace the shifter and put the bolt back in. This should stop your leak.
