SOURCE: How repair my BMW R1200GS 2007 abs?
It seems the only solution is to exchange the ABS Modulator. I´ve not heard of any repair company that refurbish these parts. It´s an expensive reposition part, and I´ve just got the problem on my 2007. It seems the 2008 GS has a Recall for this problem, but not on the 2007.
SOURCE: After starting my 2009 BMW
The fuel gauge sensor on my 2008 1200GS Adventure was defective and needed replacement. On my first ride after buying it new from the dealer it showed full (all bars), but ran out of gas on my first ride. No further problems, and it is now 40,000 miles.
Hope this helps.
SOURCE: Bmw R1200GS and R1200GS Adventure
The 'standard' model is the cheaper of the two, comes with alloy wheels as standard and a 20 litre petrol tank, and 'street biased' gearing.
The 'adventure' has much lower ratio bottom gears, has wire wheels as standard and a 33 litre tank.
The standard GS is a bit of a 'Chelsea Taxi' teh Adventure is the 'real deal'.
If fitted with OEM Panniers those on the adventure tend to be alloy, plastic for the standard, the adventure also features floodlights under the handle bars and a bigger fairing screen. Both have hand guards.

There is no cam belt on the R1200GSA!!
The cams are chain driven. Replacing the chains requires the motor crankcase to be split.
