something is turned on and killing the battery. Check the trunk light....(does it really go out when the lid is closed?. Take the bulb (s) out and see if that makes a difference....also if you have one on the hood lid....do the same thing...and pull out the cig lighter too...and also the bulb in the glove box. Something that is NOT on your accessories power is staying on.
The latch is most likely the issue. If the trunk is used a lot, the latch is misaligned or a foreign object obstructed the latch from closing. The latch itself could be damaged. Carefully inspect the opening of the latch and look for bent, mushroomed or damaged steel. I would have to see to know for sure, how to proceed.
There is a service bulletin out for those. Take it in to the dealer. This repair is covered under the Lexus Powertrain Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 72 months or 70,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-service date. Your battery may be dead, these new cars use motors instead of linkages, so when theres no power you will not be able to open the door, you will need to have the lock unlock from inside with a door lock tool, you may need to call aaa to get the door open, then have the battery checked.
sadly with the more exclusive cars as the lexus you have to go to a main dealer and they plug it in to a machine and reset it for you, sadly they charge you the earth
