Try jumping the positive directly to the starter,if it starts,the solenoid is bad.

You have to check the starter, check continuity from the ground and the positive side of the battery, if you have continuity you have a bad starter,

First clean your starter relay with electrical parts cleaner and try that.now is it a clicking sound or a buzzing sound?you could also have a bare wire somewhere and it is grounding out the whole system.and one other thing....check to make sure you have a good connection on top of your starter.

need your carb rebuilt or your carb readjusted. sounds like you might have some mud in it. do you take it in the mud? if so check the top where the throttle cable comes through.

I HAVE AN 01 660 RAPTOR GOT SPARK BUT WONT START

Try intoducing a small amount of fuel (half a teaspoon) of fuel through plug hole, refit plug & try, if it fires it will show fuel problem up. Also, is the plug wet when you remove it after trying to start? If it's very wet, may just be badly flooded. If not wet, check for fuel filter & if it's blocked, check air filter etc, hope this helps.

Battery issues

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Two (2) major components responsible for charging the battery are:
  • stator - produces the AC voltage;
  • rectifier/regulator combo - converts the AC voltage to DC voltage and regulates it according to the of condition of the battery and the demand of the Raptor's electrical parts.

Good luck and thank you for asking FixYa.

when its hot and humid you could be having a ignition coil or cable problem.check cables and replace plugs, then take it from there. have your ignition coil tested also. backfiring is a sure sign of an ignition problem

Yamaha 2001 Raptor 660, need to clean my carb

Drain and replace the gas with fresh.
Remove the air cleaner and spray carb cleaner into the inlet. Work your throttle a little then put everything back together and try to start it.
