I just got a '98 kawasaki kmx 125cc. it runs fine but sometimes when i shift rapidly the engine makes one or two "clack" noises and it dies, it also happens when i run it at full throttle a while. another problem is when I run downhill and i use the "engine break" (I don't know how it's called)...it makes a "clack" sound very often. what is wrong?
If its 2 stroke with automix fuel/oil, engine breaking downhill with no throttle sucks no oil in to mix with the fuel, this causes the piston rings to run raw with no oil and can wreck it pretty quickly (gets way to hot and almost ceases and dies) . try giving the engine the occasional blip of throttle while engine breaking down hill and see if it still does it. the automix of oil/fuel normally happens only when the throttle is engaged. if it continues to be a problem you can be adjust the oil intake down on your oil pump unit. Goodluck. !!
Try to adjust your chain and check your sproket for damage.
