My 2003 955i Daytona speedometer was working fine, last night, the readout just started showing ''0'' regardless of speed. Is there a sensor disconnected/broken and where is that located?

The wires (looks like a spedo cable, but is really just a jacket over the wires leading to the sensor) do indeed run from the plug near the right side of the gas tank, down the left front fork to the sensor at the left side of the front axle. I found the "cable" out of the holders on the left front fork, allowing slack to rub against the rotor. Re-fitting the "cable" to the holders after working the slack out of it, disconnecting the plug near the gas tank and cleaning it, and plugging back in seems to have fixed the spedo. Inspect the wires carefully if the were rubbing on the rotor to make sure there is no damage to them. If your problem is not fixed by doing the same, then I have to suspect the sensor itself may be the problem. Keep your fingers crossed for both of us!

The speed sensor is located in the front wheel. Follow the cable down to the axle. Please post the solution or problem if your figure this out. I been ride for a year now with the same problem. I've not had the time to check out the problem yet myself.

Vehicle Speed Signal
The vehicle speed signal is generated by the rear anti-lock brake sensor and sent to the 4-wheel anti-lock brake system (4WABS) module. The 4WABS module sends the vehicle speed signal via circuit 679 (GY/BK) to all systems which require a vehicle speed signal input.
Speedometer
The electronic speedometer receives a speed signal from the 4WABS module.

Take it to a qualified repair shop .

94 Grand Prix ABS issue. My abs light is on so i scanned it and the codes came up RF wheel speed sensor 0 speed. LF wheel speed sensor excessive speed. Now, when I put the car up and let the wheels spin...

quite easy throw the code reader away for a start then work from basics ,disconnect each sensor in turn and check for continuety ,also the wiring connections for corrosion then if all the sensors check out then you check the toothed rings that the sensors pick up on and make sure they havent corroded away or come loose on the drive shafts especialy the front drive shafts as this is a common fault on vehicles used in northern climes where their is snow and wet rain

Speed mph stop working just shows 0 on it every thing els works fine what can i do to fix it

Just put a speed sensor on my 87 Aspencade. Just read 0 on the speed ometer. The plastic gear in side of the the speedometer was shot. There was no teeth on the gear. Cost around $80.00 for the part and about an hour to tear down and put back together. When I pulled it apart i could see that the plastic gear was shot.

Having a problem with the speedometer on 2001 SV650

You need to replace the speedometer cable. The years of turning inside the protective cable have worn it out. Disconnect both ends and the piece(s) supporting the cable and replace it. Simple and relatively quick too. Happy Riding.

The speedo in my 95 mustang Gt Is 10 miles an hour fast

A vehicle speed sensor that is starting to fail could cause this, or less than likely bad wiring or connections, or yes, a bad cluster could do this... But how exactly did she notice the speedometer was 10MPH fast?? There are no real accurate speedometers in vehicles (Don't get me wrong they shouldn't be off by 10MPH) but there is a 5 or so percent difference high or low in many vehicles even with stock powertrains. I've plugged in with a diagnostic scanner on many vehicles and the dash speedo shows 60MPH, but the electronic speed readout on the scanner reads as low as 55MPH or as high as 65MPH

1991 Dodge Daytona Speedometer and Odometer not working.

I had the same problem with my 90 daytona. The tach and the speedometer would work intermitantly. I took the whole gauge cluster out, and heated all the soldering with a solder gun to reflow the connections. It seems that this is a common problem with the connections cracking. You may not be able to see the cracks in the solder.
