The battery you installed may be defective or expired, replace it again with a major brand like Energizer

SOURCE: natural gas generator will not start. 4 years after installation.

very likely a fuel problem. First pull the air cleaner cover off and try choking the engine by putting your hand over the intake partially choking it. If this don't work then go Down on the bottom right hand side behind the battery you will see a fuel regulator on top of it is a fuel solenoid with 2 wires coming off it. Below the fuel solenoid you will see 2 -1/4" pipe plugs one on top of the other. If you pull the top one out and gas comes out then you have fuel up to the solenoid. If you pull the bottom one out and crank the engine then you should get gas out of the bottom one. If you don't then make sure you are getting 12 vdc to those 2 wires during cranking. If you do then You are going to have to pull the 4 screws out of the solenoid and pull the solenoid off and make sure you the seat on your solenoid valve is not sticking. If all this checks out and you are getting fuel out both 1/4" pipe plug holes, then you will need to see if you have a spark at the spark plugs, if you don't then something is shorting out your ignition coils. Disconnect wire 18 from its terminal located above the oil cooler. If the engine starts and runs with this wire disconnected then you need to trace this wire back to the control panel and see whats causing it to ground out.

Let me know if this helps.

SOURCE: My watch keeps losing time and sometimes, it

Its possible your watch is running but the hands arent moving. You should take it to a reputable watch repair shop instead of Walmart...they are sales people and havent been trained to repair watches. No its not THAT hard to change a battery, but if you dont know much about the movement then you can miss simple things that go wrong. Or something could get damaged during the battery change! A watch repair shop should have machines that can help diagnose the problem. Could be as simple as needing to be oiled!

Good luck!

SOURCE: My 1996 Suzuki Swift Cino is overheating.

Hello, if you are losing coolant as you say than the most probable place is through your head and into your exhaust system, it is highly likely you have a cracked head or a major head gasket leak. The only other place it can go is if you have a automatic vehicle with the cooler on the bottom of the radiator tank (crack between two tanks), it will go straight into your transmission, you can tell if the transmission oil is overfull and watery (thin and whitish).

Alarm chirps replaced battery still chirps what is wrong?

Hello, Jim -

I hope I am correct in thinking you are asking about a home smoke alarm. If so . . .

Read the article here which lists many reasons as to why a smoke alarm may still chirp after the battery has been replaced:
http://www.wirechiefelectric.com/blog/resources/what-to-do-when-smoke-alarm-keeps-beeping

If I am incorrect in thinking your question is about a home smoke alarm, please choose Comment and state what kind of alarm you are asking about.

Best wishes.

My hard wired smoke alarm has had a new 9 volt battery installed and even a second new one installed and is still chirping 4 times every 30 seconds.

On many of the newer smoke alarm installations, all of the units are wired together so that if one goes off, it triggers all of the others so that no matter where you are you will definitely hear the maddening noise of the alarms! And if one of the other units has a bad or weak battery not only will it chirp but so will the others.

Only way around this is to cut any and all wires going to each smoke detector. They will still work because each has its own battery but there will be no more triggering of other units.

My Kidde Model 1285 keeps chirping even after I changed the batteries, any ideas why?

Be sure you are using a well known brand battery. The store brands, in my my opinion generally are not quite up to par. Try this and see if the chirp will stop. Thanks for asking me.

Does this model have a battery backup?

All smoke alarms that connect to your household electricity must be replaced every 10 years by code (NFPA 72). Chances are the device is indicating low battery, but it is time to replace it and all others of the same age. Check your local hardware store or call a licensed electrician to replace them.

I have the Firex i4618, after changing the battery it continues to chirp, have tried 2 new Duracell proper model batteries with same result.

Smoke Detecotrs have a limited lifespan of 5-7 years. So sounds like you need new one (Its not worth to buy just a sensor). Take a look on amazon Amazon: Amazon com Smoke Alarm. I hope this helped you. Have a nice day

My new Firex 21007581 with a new battery keeps chirping. What is the problem and how do I fix it? Thanks Sal

He said it had a new battery so he already did that and why would you service a $12 throw away smoke alarm? This FIREX he identified is the 4618 and will also chirp while the LED light blinks, chirp is about 30 seconds after blink if the unit itself needs to be replaced because there is something wrong with it as opposed to a different chirp pattern for battieries. If still unerwarrantee FIREX will replace otherwise go buy a new one.

3 new Kidde i4618 smoke detectors were put in last week. Last night one of them began chirping. I went to the store and bought brand new batteries and replaced them and tested the units which all worked....

smoke detectors work by smelling the air across a radioactive anode which upsets the electronics and sets off the alarm
it can be set off not only by smoke but by heat and gasses in the air
the new and better product is a photo electric detector which alerts earlier and can be installed connected to each room and into the house power or they come with a 10 years lithium battery
It could be a faulty unit so take it back for a warranty exchange unit

Replaced 9 v batteries, units still chirping

This is the troubleshooting information from the kddie site. The problem is usually related to an older battery or improperly installed battery. You might also have to do a reset as described below. If battery and cleaning don't work, it might be time for a replacement - short money to keep you and your home safe.

  1. The battery may be loose, or improperly installed.
Verify that a battery of the recommended type is securely installed. Make sure to use a battery with a use-by date no later than four to five years in the future. Check that the battery is snapped in completely so it cannot be shaken loose. It’s possible that battery connections may not be making good contact with the battery. Disconnecting and re-connecting the battery once or twice will likely fix this condition. On units with a front-load battery, be sure that the battery compartment door is closed completely as well. Loose white neutral wire can cause an echoing chirp. (From one unit to the next)

  2. The smoke alarm sensing chamber may be dirty.
Dust and insects can collect in the sensing chamber of the alarm. An accumulation of dust in the sensing chamber can cause the unit to chirp. It is good practice to clean the smoke alarm when you change the battery. Static electricity from the ac quick connector attracts dust and can cause false alarms.

    Cleaning smoke alarms:
To clean your alarm, remove it from the mounting bracket as outlined here. You can clean the interior of your alarm (sensing chamber) by using compressed air or a vacuum cleaner hose and blowing or vacuuming through the openings around the perimeter of the alarm. The outside of the alarm can be wiped with a damp cloth. After cleaning, reinstall your alarm, verify the green LED is on and test your alarm by using the Test Button. If cleaning does not restore the alarm to normal operation, the alarm should be replaced.

  3. Check environmental conditions:
    • Humidity, steam and condensation can cause false alarms. Causes of condensation are:
      • Extreme temperatures changes.
      • High ambient humidity.
      • Unit being installed in an uninsulated electrical box mounted on a ceiling beneath an attic. If this condition exists you’ll want to move the alarm. Click here to see the correct alarm placement in your user’s manual found in our Download Center.
    • Check to see if there is a cooling/heating register, a ceiling fan or an open window within 3 feet of the alarm. If there is, move the alarm away from the source of the increased airflow. Click here to see the correct alarm placement in your user’s manual found in our Download Center.
    • Check the temperature of the room. Smoke alarms operate at 40 degrees to 95 degrees Fahrenheit. Carbon monoxide alarms operate at 40 degrees to 100 degrees Fahrenheit.

  4. Reset the alarm.
Some current model smoke alarms have a processor that retains certain error conditions, such as a weak battery. The error condition should reset when the battery is replaced but sometimes it does not and must be manually reset to clear the error.

To reset an AC unit with a battery backup:
Turn off the power to the smoke alarm at the circuit breaker.Remove the smoke alarm from the mounting bracket and disconnect the power. Remove the battery. Press and hold the test button for at least 15 seconds. The unit may chirp or alarm for a few seconds before going silent.Reconnect the power and reinstall the battery. The unit will chirp once when the power is restored and should not chirp afterwards.

To reset a DC only unit:
Remove the battery. Press and hold the test button for at least 15 seconds. The unit may chirp or alarm for a few seconds before going silent.Reinstall the battery. The unit will chirp when the battery is first connected but should not chirp afterwards.

  5. An electrical condition may be causing the power to the unit to be interrupted.
If the AC power to the unit is interrupted, the unit will chirp when the power is restored. This could be caused by power surges.
If the chirping seems to occur at about the same time in the evening or morning, it could be due to a surge created when the power company switches electrical grids to meet demand. Check to see if the chirp (or chirping) occurs when something else in the house is turned on such as an exhaust or attic fan, a heater, etc. If the smoke alarm is connected to a circuit with such a device, the alarm may chirp when the other device is switched on. If this is the case and the device is plugged into a wall outlet, move it to another outlet on a different circuit. If it is a hardwired device, have an electrician investigate it. These conditions can be minimized by installing your alarms on a dedicated circuit in compliance with NFPA requirements.

  6. Replace the alarm.
If none of these conditions exist and the suggestions don't alleviate the symptom, the alarm should be replaced. Age may be a factor. Smoke and heat alarms should be replaced every 10 years, and carbon monoxide and combination alarms should be replaced every 7 years. Most of our alarms have a 5 year warranty from date of purchase (check your user manual for details). A date code is stamped on the label attached to the back of the unit.
