please try using carburretor cleaner.
start the engine and spray fron the air intake a couple of times.
please check the carburettor snokle for wear off or check that the lever that accelerates the car could be tight and gets stuck.usually if excessive air is allowed in the carburettor the rpm will increase so it has to be the carburettor.

My tiller will run with choke on but soon as i shut choke off it dies. How do i solve this problem.

First make sure the fuel filter is clean. Check the carburettor is attached tightly to the engine. The passage ways and jets in the carburettor may be gummed up. Dismantle the carburettor while ensuring that you don't damage any gaskets. Spray carburettor cleaner into the orifices and then if you have a compressed air gun, use it to blow out the carburettor.

After starting it, It will run for a few seconds and then cut out.

are you running it with the choke on or off. this is the procedure i use for my chainsaw which can be a real pig to start if i don't follow this procedure.
1. Pump in the fuel 10 times.
2. Choke full on and pull 3 times.
3. Choke on half and pull three times.
4. Chole off and pull to start.

if this is the first time you have ran it for a lengthy period drain the fuel and replace and pump it through useingthe carburettor pump. It will be a pig to start but onse all the old fuel is gone it will eventually run fine. the reason for this is that the fuel these days can go off due to all the rubbish they put in it. it will form lumps etc that will block your jets etc in the carburretor. It would be really nice to know your model name and number etc and how you get on.....

There could be a few reasons for that happening....It is most likely a FEUL problem. Is it feul injection or carburettor?? If it is a carburretor, then there could be dirt in the jets. You could also have an inline filter that is blocked & not enough feul is getting through to the carb. Another thing that could be causing the car not to start after being running awhile is if the feul line is too close to the engine and is getting too much heat, causing the feul to "bubble" and faporise in the line, untill it cools down. Another cause could be that the float level in the carb is set too low or you have a faulty needle & seat.

I have Powermate 3500 .I have use it 3 times over last 3 years. Today after it started I turn it to the run position and it kills the engine.It runs only when is set to choke

It appears that there is a fuel supply problem with the carburettor. Fuel can go stale after six months and can eventually turn to a jelly if left long enough if there is no treatment added to prevent this. If the tank has never been drained in those three years, then I would suggest draining any old fuel and flushing out tank to remove any contamination and ensure only fresh fuel is available. You will also need to check the fuel filter and carburettor for comtamination. You may have to dismantle the carburretor to ensure it is cleaned properly as there could be gunk under the float needle and seat, which can restrict fuel flow, and also in the float bowl which would be causing a restriction in the main jet making it run lean and need the setting of the choke to provide a rich enough mixture to run.

Wont start keeps back firing working fine then went to take out next day and key turns it tries all that happens is it puffs out of exsort and wont go

2 possible problems:
a) Jets in carburettor are clogged. Clean out the carburettor and jets thourougly. Write down the settings of air and idle screws first to dismantle ( count the turns to full lock up the screws. DONT apply much force ).
DONT scratch jets with an iron wire or something like that, use only Carburettor cleaner!
b) Ignition timing is wrong. Here, 2 possibilities:
Sparkplug is dirty or worn, replace it.
Key in flyweel is broken. Remove the flywheel, check the key...

I would check your oil level first, they have safety stops when oil level is low. Change the oil while you're at it if it hasn't been done for a while, if it still doesn't work, empty the gas in the tank including the one in the carburettor float housing, spray some carburretor cleaner while you're at it, and put fresh gas in the tank.
