Question about Hyosung GT 650 R Motorcycles

1 Answer

Hello. I have two issues I have noticed recently with my GT650R. 1) There is a hose coming from the gas tank that is not coneected to anything on the other end. I found it dangling near the drive chain and footpeg, and I have no idea where it goes? Any ideas? It doesn't smell like gas or oil, and maybe it should go into the atmosphere, but I don't know. 2) My chain seems to rest on some sort of "guide" as it goes into the front sprocket. Is this normal or should it be suspended above it? Thanks!

Great! Thanks. Do you know where the hose is supposed to be attached? Is there a clip or tie for it?

This was a great solution! The response was fast and the answer was exactly what I needed to know I wasn't having any issues. Thanks!

Both are normal,The hose is an overflow vent tube and the chain guide is so the chain doesn't rub the frame.

Do you know if there is a flapper valve of some sort in the fill tube inside the gas tank that will not allow gas to go into the tank?

hello this is James Auto.Repairs
welcome good sir I will do my best to help you resolve your issues with your repairs.

Here is the best answer I can give you
if your try and drink a can of soda fast you basically have to suck it out. now if you put a hole directly across from it or really anywhere it would just poor out faster.
if you crawl underneath look for the main fill hose its about 2 -2 1/2 in diameter if you look near by you will see a much smaller hose following parallel with the fill hose to the tank roughly about 1/2 in diameter that I would guess is where your problem within that smaller tubing could be rust or a bug made a nest in it or clogged
gas goes in fill hose air comes out that 1/2 vent tube if air can not escape then it will cause gas to over fill and spill out as you describe.

Please I ask if any of this has helped you in your repairs to please rate my answers accordingly thank you for helping me to help others. 2e5e55f3-4878-4c61-8b6d-21cac70169e4.jpg

Check the fuel hose and clamps from the filler to the tank .check hose for cracks . The smell will probably be strongest in the boot.

How to repair leaking fuel lines under the tank

Okay, prepare to get some gas on you. You need to drain the gas
You'll need:

1 pair hemostats or hose pincher
1 pair of wire cutters
1 screwdriver phillips or flat head
1 nut driver 1/4 inch or 5/16 inch
New fuel line. (cut 1 two inch piece and put the bolt in one end making a plug) = 2 inch plug
Hose clamps.
1 Bolt that will fit inside fuel line.(make line plug)

Pinch either side of the fuel line with hemostats. Cut the factory clamp off and pull the hose off. Put the 2 inch plug on the tank, and that will stop the gas from coming out. put a hose clamp on it if you want so it don't leak.
Now put a gas can under the pinched line and unpinch it and let the gas drain out of that tank.
When done draining , cut that hose off the tank and put it on the other side where that plug is. Remove the plug and put that line on and let that tank drain.
Once the tanks are drained., Just cut the hose to length and replace, using new hose clamps and new fuel line.
If your quick enough you can swap the hoses out without draining the tank.
You will get gas on you no matter what.

hello. Actually I think you are probably dealing with a new issue related to the newer safety device on the 20 pound tanks. Turn off the tank and unscrew it from the grill hose. Then screw it back on and s-l-o-w-l-y open up the valve. Then light the grill.
You should notice a markedly bigger flame now. Enjoy! J.

Carburetor float stuck, probably some sediment that got past the filter. If not that then check your fuel lines coming from the tank to the fuel pump or filter.
