Because there are so many different case and motherboard combinations sometimes it can be difficult following the instructions for connecting the front panel, USB header and audio header.

Below is a few generic guide that should stop some of the confusion with the labels on the wires.

***Please note this is a generic wiring guide and we can not guarantee it will work with every motherboard. Please check your motherboard manual first. Wiring the headers wrong can cause damage to the motherboard and case, this damage is not covered by the warranty***

another handy USB wiring guide can be found here http://www.directron.com/installusb.html

this maybe easier to follow

Died. nothing comes on, so not dead drive. switched out power supply, so not dead power supply. the switch on the front - blue led only comes on when plugged in lower right two prongs of 8 (4x4). So, tried...

short power switch pins on mother board, reset bios, short green wire to black wire on ATX connector with all drives etc.. power cables disconnected to test power supply. i suspect you have a dead motherboard.

Replace atx 250 12e power supply with 350watt power supply per

Sounds like there maybe some kind of problem with *********** board connector. Double check that it is the right size, and be sure there are no places that still need power. When you get the chance I'd check the following:
Disc Drives
Motherboard
Floppy
Hard Drives
That all cards are secure, if there are any loose connectors your comp will declare "short circuit". At that point, unplug the cord from the mother board (the power cable) and try again.
Any USB Cables
Anything that looks loose, and finally, recheck the compatibility with your system.

Good Luck!!!

Emachine t2824 board diagram

Here is the diagram that shows you how to hook up the wires:

http://www.fixya.com/uploads/images/284ECAC.png

If you still have no video then reseat the memory one stick at a time in one slot at a time.

If you still have no video then reseat the cpu into its slot.

If still no luck try a different stick of RAM by trying it one slot a time.

Last step, unhook the power connectors from your device so the only power connectors that are connected are the power to the motherboard and the p4 connector to the motheboard. Also make sure your power supply is set to 115v. Its the red switch on the back of the power supply.

If none of this works, then the motherboard is bad. Hope this information helps.

On and off connection to board

The wires from the on-off switch only go to the power supply. From the power supply there will either a 10 or 14 pin connector that is plugged into the motherboard.

D845epi mobo has flashing green light after power supply replacement

Unplug the power then unplug the 24 pin power connection from the mother board and take paper clip bend it so you can insert it into the holes where the green and the black wire are next to each other, Next you will need a multi meter. Set the multi meter to read dc volts 20 take the red lead and put it into the purple wire hole of the 24 pin connection and the black lead in to the hole with the Black wire on the 24 pin connection. the reading on the Multi meter should read 5.0 volts if it does not and you get a reading of 6.01 or higher then the Mother board has been burnt out and you will need to replace the motherboard and power supply I have been a onsite tech for E-machine for the last 5 years and this has been an ongoing problem with the power supply.

Emachine t3958

First check to see if a drive died. Unplug all the drive Floppy, hard and dvd or burns. I have come across many time that a drive will die and keep motherboard from booting. Being that you say you get a green light on the motherboard shows that the power suppy is providing some power. But for some reason the internal self test is faulting the power suppy. I have not come cross any bad power supplies killing a motherboard. But I have come across power supplies killing drives. The power switch is a normal open switch so the only time you be able test continuity on it is if you hold the switch in, or the closed position.

Emachines t3882 wont power on

The yellow wire carry 12 volt while the red one is 5 volt. But to check the voltage you have to unplugged all the four wires connectors (yelow, black, black red) and measure them one by one. If you say that they don't have any voltage on them then you have a faulty power supply. Replace it to solve the problem.
But if during unplugged your have the correct voltage read then it could be one of your device faulty. Normally your CD-ROM drive or floppy drive or HDD.

Emachines problem... PSU works but comp doesnt turn on

Hi, Did you just add the second CD? If you did you may need the driver for the mother board? Make sure the power cord for the cd has voltage plug it into the DVD drive also check the cable make sure red stripe is on the correct side of drive. You can download the driver at http://www.emachines.com/support/product_support.html?cat=Desktops&subcat=T-Series&model=T2672 User guide is there as well. The start button has a pair of wires with a small pin connector on it. This will connect to the motherboard if there is a 3 pin set you might try moving to the other pin. The new power supply also has to provide a start voltage? Your power supply may not be compatible or it may put the voltage on the third pin.
