Replaced starter, battery, new battery cables ,terminals , cylonod, still nothing have dash light but that's it
Presuming a no-crank scenario. Best to turn your headlights on and have someone try to start the truck as you observe the impact on the lights. If they're bright to start with and remain bright on start attempt, there is no power getting to the starter - check your transmission shifter to ensure it's in park to ensure the Neutral position sensor is not cutting off power. If for sure in Park, then remove position sensor to test/replace. If the lights dim to nothing; undercharged battery. If lights dim, then the starter solenoid maybe defective; if you hear the solenoid trip; then the starter pinion gear may be simply stuck- a few taps to the starter may free it. Failing that, pull the starter to bench test.
Do the headlamps work? Any component that doesn't work, if the component is fuse protected, not only check the fuse, check the fuse circuit for voltage, use a test lite to check for voltage. There are fusible links, one of the positive battery cables goes to fusible links.
There should be a way to test starter motor to see if it will crank the engine. Two voltage circuits at starter motor, one comes from the battery, hot all the time. The other circuit goes hot when starter relay is energized. The starter motor grounds through engine block. I did look at wiring diagram, not sure of your engine size, but the relay had no terminal numbers in the diagram, sometimes that means the relay is soldered into the fuse box, so you can't just pull it out.
You might be able to use a long shank screwdriver and short the two voltage terminals at the starter motor, it may crank the engine. At least you know the starter motor will crank the engine. If you try that make sure tranny is in park or neutral and parking brake is set.
SOURCE: 1997 Jetta will not start with abrand new battery!
Dont have a clue about the hazards but the connections on the starter could be bad
SOURCE: STARTER WILL NOT ACTIVATE
ignition switch had been replaced in 2005.(did not know this at time of question).we were using the old key in the new lock.when using new key problem solved.
SOURCE: i have a 99 Intrepid and it wont start. There is
battery is dead again let it charge longer then try it.
clean your cables and then have the alt and battery checked if they are both good then something is staying on like mine my brake lights stayed on once and killed the battery
good luck
Testimonial: "Im looking at the wiring diagram and your solution seems logical. The battery is 1 yr so i didnt think it was a problem. But i will def try. thanks"
SOURCE: 2000 ford windstar won't start
also check to see if anti theft light is flashing some of them will disingage the starter
SOURCE: 2007 chevy cobalt ls won't
Ignition relay or fuse could be the problem. When you turn the key to start do you hear a fuel pump kicking on and or do you have spark when you hot wire the starter (I know it's hard to check while trying to start it)? You can email me back and I might be able to pinpoint it more.
