Try using a piece of a rubber glove or bike inner tube around the spark plug lead . big enough to cover the hole in the head that the plug sits in. This is an old brit bike method used on BSA, Triumph and Nortons in the 60s.

HONDA GL1500 wont start when it rains

Easy! moister is getting into your electrical system. Sounds like its starting at your switches and probably just need to pull the switches apart, clean the contact points and apply a little grease. Your best bet is to not let the bike get soaking wet, cover it and and only wash it by wetting a towel and not spraying it with a hose.

Hi, Saisoku this happens to a lot of bikes and different brands it is usually caused by water getting into the fuel system and/or moisture getting to electronic components, wire connectors, wiring harness. This situation usually clears itself by letting the bike sit for a couple of days in the sun. For more information about your question please click on the blue links below. No spark at spark plugs and coil has tested good, there is sufficient current at pick up off the cam as well, bike ridden through hard rain and started acting up during ride and eventually shut down 10...

Sounds like the water got in somewhere crucial and is preventing the components from telling the coil to spark.

Don't laugh now, but try hitting any suspect areas with WD-40. I recently learned the WD stands for water displacing. It was initially invented as something that could remove water. But it is flammable so exercise caution.

This is surely frustrating and thankfully it doesn't happen often to Harleys. I sure hope you find the source and get it sealed.

I rode with a group of 15 bikes from south WI to the eagle rehab place up in Minnesota. It rained on us for almost 90 minutes but not one bike quit running. So, when things are sealed as they should be, Harleys can run in the rain.

Hope you get this solved and get back on the road.
