Question about 2003 Honda VTX 1300 Retro

My new VTX1300 valves have been adjusted to Honda

My new 2009 VTX1300 valves have been adjusted to Honda specs at 1000Km but now the engine sounds like a sewing machine on regular accelerations.
Dealer service dept say they wont do any other adjustments because they are within specs.

The valves were adjusted by the dealer at its first scheduled maintenance and that's where they started to be more noisy.
I brought back the bike to the dealer to have it checked again. They opened up the bike to get to the valve and confirmed that they were within specs.
Of course I am relief that there's nothing wrong with the bike but can't this be tweaked ?
I hate being told that it's normal when the bike's valve sounds anoying.
After doing a bit of reading on the internet I found that even if the specs for EX valves is .012in (.30mm) they could still be adjusted to .010in (.26mm).
But there was no confirmation if that was safe for the engine.

Were the valves actually adjusted or just checked?

Bastards! Valves will only get tighter on our bikes so there is that. If you are concerned call another honda shop 1-800 and get service department to listen to you

What are the valve lash specs for 2007 Honda Accord V6?

There is a specific procedure for setting valve clearance . I highly recommend getting a repair manual for the correct specs & procedure. The engine must be at TDC with the #1 cylinder on the compression stroke , that will allow you to adjust ONLY certain valves , then you have to turn the engine one turn to TDC again only now #1 will be on the exhaust stroke & the rest of the valves can be adjusted . it's important that you know the difference between the two !

Fixing the valves setting on a 125cc clipic radar motor cycle

We would check to see if this is a Honda clone or copy 125cc engine. If so use those steps and specs but only if you can not get a manual which seems unlikely.
All valve adjustments are similar on overhead valve four stroke engines. I have not bothered to look but have to ask if you did a web search for a video showing how?
I am assuming this is a four cycle engine and not a two cycle engine. Two cycle engines do not use valves. Two strikes use ports and reed valves that you can not adjust.
Next time add a good up close pic of the engine. Especially the top end.

Valve lash

  • INTAKE VALVES: 0.003-0.005 in. (0.08-0.12mm)
  • EXHAUST VALVES: 0.006-0.008 in. (0.16-0.20mm)

  • PLEASE NOTE:
  • THESE SPECS ARE FOR A 4 CYLINDER, THE V6 HAS HYDRAULIC VALVE FOLLOWERS DOES NOT REQUIRE ADJUSTMENT
  • ALL ADJUSTMENTS ARE ON A COLD ENGINE
