Yea, for most bikes they only come in .020 increments now. if your looking to freshen up the top end, then youll have to go to a 56.00mm piston. there will be almost no change in displacement or jetting from 55 to 56mm. if your replacing the piston, its best to have your cylinder bored anyways. since the worn cylinder walls may have adverse effects on the new piston rings, and they may wear a bit prematurely. a bore only costs about 30-40 bucks most places, and its cheap insurance. plus you will have the peace of mind knowing that your bore is matched specifically for your piston. I would definitely recommend a fresh bore.

What is the piston to bore clearance on a 1984 Harley soft tail with wiseco pistons?

Usually the minimum clearance is listed on the outside of the Wiseco box. You can always call them, they are very good about helping folks.
I will say don't use the stock Harley clearance as a guide, the Wiesco's are forged so need greater clearance and would seize at the stock clearance, Frank

I HAVE JUST BOUGHT A '92 MODEL XT600 AND i WANT TO PUT THE BIGGEST "BIG BORE KIT " IN IT WHAT SIZE CAN IT TAKE? AND WHERE CAN i PURCHASE ONE FOR BEST PRICE?

Stock bore is 95 mm, Wiseco offers a 101 mm piston, some crankcase cleanup is required. Will be 672 cc monster when you're done. Actually am building one right now for a supermoto screamer. Good luck!

I have a 2000 yz 125. Melted a hole in the piston but didnt score cylinder. Replaced top end. Wont start. Has good fire. Crank case oil was a little grey. New plug, fluids, fuel.

I would be checking compression it may not be visible score on cylinder but it does not take much to loose compression on small bore motor with one piston ring and 11 years old

Can you bore a sleeved cylinder from a standard 1991 Kawasaki kx 250 or will it need to be re-sleeved? Not sure if the cylinder sleeve is stock. My understanding is that Kawasaki installed factory sleeves...

If you say it is definately sleeved it should be possible to bore it, you normally get one or two oversizes before it needs resleeving. If you are able to buy an over size piston from kawa or wiseco, chances are it can be bored.

First you know that it's bored 30 over, now you need to remember what kind of pistion that was installed. Once you find that out it can be ordered on line.
