If i try to hold the throttle to sustain even 1500 rpm the car will not rev it will just bog down, only lightly tapping gets it to rev a little, and it seems that it revs when I let go of the throttle rather than when i press on it. Thanks for the responses! A friend has an OBD scanner will check the codes tomorrow. I have checked the plugs, they are all black. I believe this may be the issue. The car will not start at all anymore
When the plugs are black and fouled, the engine is getting WAY too much fuel, constantly. Normally, the computer will put the engine into cold start mode when first starting, once warm it cuts back to normal fuel flow. Since it's steadily getting too much fuel, I'd say it's in the computer causing excess fuel delivery. Have the Temperature sending unit checked for proper operation.

being a fuel injected engine , there are many reasons this could be happening.
from the top , lets check the Manifold Absolute Pressure (M.A.P.) sensor , as it is easiest.
Find the MAP sensor , it has a couple a wires and a vacuum tube going to it and is on the firewall or fender support under the bonnet.
Disconnect the wire harness from it (small plug with wires).
If the engines RPMs drop to normal , replace the MAP sensor.

bad plugs + wires and coil.also weak fuel pump.stopped up fuel filter and fuel injectors.

Could be misfire. You need to get a code reader to find out what the trouble codes are. You can then better know what to do next. Spark plugs could be the problem. They are easy to change on the four cylinder, and the V6 is a bit of a chore as the intake plenum needs to be unbolted to change the three rear plugs. Get the codes read! best of luck!

When I had this same problem...it was the Catalytic Converter...cost about 200 to get it fixed at the Hyundai Dearlership :)
