The engine of my 1992 chevy lumina minivan is making a loud clicking noise when at idle, but when i give it some gas the noise goes away. What is causing this?
Could be the belt tensioner,
Probably a sticking valve lifter. Add a cup of transmission fluid directly into the crankcase. Same place as you add engine oil. It should free up in a few minutes. Be sure to check your oil beforehand. It could be just low on oil, although i assume you have checked that. You can also purchase many engine oil additives at any parts store that will do the same thing as transmission oil .
