Needing new valves is highly unlikely. Your bike is only 5 years old.
Before doing anything else, run through a tank of premium gas. If the rattle goes away then a bit of pre-ignition was present. If the rattle is still there, take the bike to a dealer and ask them to reset the cam chain tensioner and set the valve clearances also. This may cost $150 or so. Chances are that if the knocking is still present, you are hearing piston slap. This would require new pistons, rings and probably fresh cylinder bores. Have the shop re-seat the valves while the top end is torn down. Ask the dealer as to cost before handing over the bike.

Yes it is. I dont know how many valves are on the bike but they are gonna have to take apart the whole motor to get to them. Sorry. If you do it yourself or have a friend who knows it would be cheaper.

Does anyone have a service manual for a 2004 cbr 1000rr fireblade

Hi, Allen the vast majority of service, parts, and owners manuals on the internet are "FREE" to download and all service manuals contain wiring diagrams in the back pages. The rest usually charge a modest fee around $10 and there is a handful of obscure, rare, obsolete, and very old models that are no longer or never were available, for these rare occasions I shall look on eBay and find the cheapest one available. Most of the manuals will cover your exact make, model, and year otherwise one will be provided that comes as close as possible to your bike and will have most of the same info that an exact manual would have. Hi, Samuel I always suggest running a can of fuel stabilizer (Sea Foam) in the fuel tank to eliminate possible injector clogging issues when the possibility of a fuel related issue exists for more information about your question and valuable "FREE" downloads that you will need please click on the websites below. I am have just purchased a cbr 600 ft and there is a slight rattle from the engine which a mechanic has told me is something to do with the cam chain tensioner. The last cam chain was put in about 12k ago...

They should last a bit longer than 12k, but wear in the guides can also make then rattle a litttle sooner. Sometimes the tensioner can wear premiturely
The bad news, the more it rattles, the more chance of damage, On some bikes I have seen the cam chain rattle through the side of the barrell until it leaves a hole and leaks oil, If the chain breaks, the pistons usually bend most of the valves.
Basic mechanical knowledge is also going to need the help of a manual. or at least mark the cams and take a few photos to reset the valve timing, or you next problem will be like many requests on this site"how do I set the valve timing"
