I have a 79 t140. starts second or third kick. uses a boyer igition system. Ride 30 miles and have a rest. when I try to start the bike again takes a lot of kicking. got home tested the battery FLAT.recharged it and it starts again fine. Its a new battery. Any thoughts on what is causing the battery to go flat and what can I do to correct the problem i have checked the battery when running and it charges up at 13.8 volts or so. The stator is probably it..I had the same problem...After you change it the bike will run so much better. That's why it ran good with the new battery...Then it started draining it..It takes a special tool to get it out..

Hi im having problems with my 99 Fazer 600 (15k). After about 30 mins of motorway riding the revs die for a few seconds and then kick back in, everything electrical seems to carry on working. It will run...

First thing I would do is try draining the carb floatbowls incase you have water or dirt in the bowls and when you crack open the throttle it's drawing water/dirt into the jets.
have you checked the plugs? in the haynes manual as 10K-Ohms @20c
When was the last time the carbs were balanced?

hope this helps

My Yumbo Dakar 200cc bike dies after riding in 5th gear reving medium-highish for a couple of minutes, it usually just dies after i hit the clutch (coasting), but on long runs @ around 50-60mph in 5th gear...

G'day,
I have a couple of ideas what may help.
First I would think it was starving for fuel.Or maybe an unusual ignition system fault- So how do we find out?
Well-you could try checking the bike for spark immediately after the bike stops.
Remove the spark plug-Re-fit to the cap-place plug resting on metal where you can see it(DO NOT HOLD PLUG-HIGH VOLTAGE)-kick over & check for spark. If theres no spark-try a new plug but if the problem persists then the bike has a faulty ignition(coil,cap,plug,stator.ignition/kill switch, wireing)
I think it is more likely starving for fuel.
A faulty fuel tank filler cap vent or carby vent tube pinched or blocked.
To check the filler cap-ride the bike & when the problem just starts-quickly crack open the fuel tank filler cap to let air in/out. If bike runs ok then the cap is blocked.
To check the carby vents -just look at them & make sure none are blocked or pinched. They usually come from each side of the carby & one from the bottom(usually clear or semi-clear hoses).
I hope that this helps you with your problem.

I would take the bike and or the battery to Sears or any large auto parts store and let them test the condition of the battery and the chargeing system. They will do it for free.Bike batterys seem to only last 2 or 3 years.
