There,s a rattle at times coming from the exup valve on the bike,is this common??the rattle stops when you raise the rev,s on the bike.

Your EXUP valve must be loosen. Take out the header's part that includes the EXUP valve and check inside. You probably have to use a thread locking agent on its bolts like Locktite.

Hi, Davelea1pres put the power valve back in it's there for a reson and the usual suspects are:
1. Idle speed improperly adjusted.
2. Inlet system air leak.
3. Leaking accelerator pump.
4. Loose low-speed jet.
5. Plugged low-speed jet.
6. Contaminated or plugged low-speed circuit.
7. Enrichner valve is not seated or leaking.

Thunderace cuts out over 6000rpm. Exup cable snapped so have jammed the exup valve open..

Hi, Davidporoniu and the usual suspects are:
1. Severely discharged or a damaged battery must have 12.5 volts or more and be able to pass a proper "LOAD" test if necessary, you may have a preliminary reading of 12.5 volts or more but little or zero amperage the battery is faulty and must be replaced, AGM batteries fail in this scenario more so than lead acid batteries.
2. Faulty alternator/generator and or voltage regulator.
3. Loose or corroded battery terminals and or cables especially the "NEGATIVE" cable, look for loose, corroded, or broken connectors inside the cable harness at "BOTH" ends.
4. Faulty main circuit breaker or ignition switch, check for loose connections and continuity.
5. Faulty system and or ignition relay, check for continuity.
6. Faulty ignition coil, ignition/electronic module.
7. Faulty CKP, CPS, CMP, MAP, TPS, or BAS sensor, corroded, loose or broken wire connector pins/sockets.
8. Throttle cables and or idle speed improperly adjusted hot idle speed should be 950 RPM to 1000 RPM.
9. Faulty neutral, side stand or clutch lever safety switch.
10. Fuel tank empty
11. Fuel tank contaminated with ethanol sludge.
12. Water or dirt in the fuel system, or clogged filter.
13. Restricted, blocked or kinked fuel line.
14. Faulty fuel pump.
15. Faulty pressure regulator.
16. Faulty or clogged fuel injectors.
17. Lean angle switch is faulty or needs adjustment.

I'm having a problem with my yamaha yzf1000 thunderace when riding it, the rev counter is switching from the revs I am doing up to 7000, down to 4000 and back to zero, then to normal revs and repeating. I...

This is a diagnostic code telling you there is a problem with the exup valve and/or servo, cables etc. Take the little cover off the exup valve and check the pulley is rotating about 1/3rd of a turn when the revs hit more than 4000 revs. It might be partially seized or a broken cable or problems with the servo. The mechanical bits are easy to fix.

I have a thunderace and the rev counter keeps jumping from 0 t0 7000 revs

7000 rpm is a self diagnostic code that either your exup valve is not being detected or the valve is locked up and not moving. If you put a header on your bike and took over the exup valve servo motor, you are going to have to put it back on. It also changes the mapping of the ECU and will not let it rev to redline when the Exup servo motor is missing.

Bike only fires once

Okay, let's have a look at it. Say Ahaaa.
The probable cause of the problem is not the spark. Get a fresh set of Stock NGK spark plugs, ground the plus to the engine, and check each cylinder for spark as the starter button is pressed for 3 seconds or so. I will wager that the spark is present.

The likely problem is the fresh gas was put into a very rusty gas tank. Bits of rust now inhabit your carb and are having fun plugging up the carb. Look at the gas valve. With a little luck there is a small bowl behind the valve. Remove it and tell me what you see in the bowl.
