The important thing is the rating.....the letters and numbers on the oil can or bottle. You should use an oil with the rating specified in your owners manual. If you don't have one you can google your model online and get the specifications. A fully synthetic oil, like Mobil-1, is best. Motorcycles are hard on oil, and it's best to use oil with Zinc added. Look for the letters ZDDP to indicate Zinc. Fully synthetic is more important than Zinc.

How many quarts of motorcycle oil do I put in my 88 cbr1000 Honda and what kinda ..... I'm doing a oil change and oil filter change

Once the old oil is completely drained, just add 3 quarts of 10-40w oil, then make sure the bike is sitting level and add some more oil slowly keeping a close eye on the glass window on the side case. It should take right around 3.4 quarts of oil. It can vary a little bit depending on what kind of oil filter you are using. Some filters hold a little more then others. It is better to underfill the motor than to overfill it. So keep this in mind. Don't waste your money on those high priced synthetics or racing oils. I worked at a few motorcycle dealerships in the past, and we always set up brand new motorcycles with 10-40w or 20-50w oils in both dirtbikes and streetbikes.

What oil should i use and what filere...2006 shadow...750?

Your oil filter part number from Honda is #15410-MFJ-D01.The Honda filter is the best quality filter available for your machine. Other brands of spin on are available from Fram, Emgo, Amsoil, etc. Your oil capacity is 3.4 quarts of motorcycle. To change your oil you will need 4 quarts of oil, a filter, and a new aluminum drain plug washer. You can reuse the old drain plug washer if it has not been squished out of shape. Your motorcycle comes from Honda usually with 10w-40 mineral base motorcycle oil. You can use any oil that is JASO MA certified motorcycle oil. 10w-40 for cold climate. 20w-50 for warm climate/touring. Automotive oils use different additives and may cause scoring in certain types of cam bearings. Do not use any oil that says " Energy Conserving " on the label . It will shorten the life of your wet clutch and transmission gears. If you choose Synthetic oils, they will help your bike run cooler and shift easier. Pour in 3.2 quarts of oil or till it reads on the dip stick or inspection window. Make sure the motorcycle is upright or on the center stand when checking the level . You will probably need 3.4 quarts to hit the high mark. Run the motor for a minute or two to fill the oil filter compartment with oil. Now recheck the oil level and top up as needed. If you want to try an "inexpensive" full synthetic oil that is JASO MA rated 15w-40 Shell Rotella T Synthetic fits the bill at about $23 per gallon. All brands/manufacturers make a motorcycle oil. Some are very hard to find. Just make sure that the oil you pick has the JASO MA "Japanese Rating" to protect your motorcycle engine, clutch and transmission.

How much oil does XR 400 2004 model take

If you are just changing the oil 1.8 quarts.
If you are changing the oil and filter 1.9 quarts.
If you disassembled the motor 2.3 quarts.
Use only JASO MA certified motorcycle oil. Remember to run the motor for 5 minutes before checking the oil level at the dipstick. The frame neck is where the dipstick is located. If you check the level with out running the motor you will read no oil on the dipstick and will probably end up overfilling the engine with oil.
