Half the time the problem is the cable due to lack of lubrication. Try adding liquid graphite (lock Eze) into the cable. Check for kinks along the length of the cable and bad routing of the cable. The other half of the time the problem is very dirty oil in the gearbox. Try an oil change.

Okay, check the operation of the clutch lever at the side cover. The lever shaft may not be free in the housing. If the shaft is binding then remove it and clean the shaft and casing bore then reassemble with a light coat of grease.

Why is the starter handle hard to pull?

Sounds like it could be seized. Have you been running it on the correct fuel and oil mix? Clutches are centrifugal, so only work when the saw is running, so it wouldn't effect the starting. You would have to have the chain brake on and for the clutch springs to have gone in order for that to effect the saw starting.

Gsx750 clutch cable

See if you can push the bike with it in gear and the clutch lever pulled in. If the clutch is stuck, push start the bike, jump on, get to about 10 mph, pull in the clutch lever and hit the rear brake hard. This will usually break a stuck clutch loose.

The clutch pulls in real hard, i have lubricated the cable and thik the clutch may need to be adjusted and im not sure how to adjust it.

Clutch pull effort is usually alleviated by lubricating the entire cable, adjusting the clutch won't make make the clutch handle any easier to pull, usually. Adjusting the clutch is a semi-delicate procedure that I can not cover in this venue.

1972 Yamaha XS2 650 clutch is very hard to pull

Hi, Colcww and the usual suspects are:
1. Clutch cable bent, kinked, pinched, rusted or needs lubrication.
2. Hydraulic clutch hose collapsed or pinched.
3. Improper clutch adjustment.
4. Clutch plates rusted.
5. Pressure plate or springs to heavy for service.
6. Damaged clutch shell.
7. Damaged, bent, or stuck push rod assembly.
8. Faulty worm gear mechanism.

Very hard to pull in clutch leaver with out straining left hand. Is this just cable adjustment needed? or do I need a new hand?

With out pulling in you clutch I can't tell you if it is a normal pull or not. You can buy an easy pull ball and ramp for your clutch, or start working out your grip with a tennis ball.

Road King Motorcycle clutch

Theres 2 clutch adjustments you can do - one is on the cable, under the boot, the other is at the clutch hub, under the derby cover in the primary. That should take care of the whine and your problem finding neutral. If you get some teflon spray and shoot it generously down the inside of your cable, you are gonna be surprized at how easy it'll pull
