1997 ODYSSEY AUTO TRANS SHIFTS HARD BETWEEN 1st & 2nd, 2nd & 3rd

Mostly in slow freeway traffic with speeds ranging fron 8-35 mph up and down. Honda trans fliud replaced 3 months ago. Shifts less hard in normal driving. Is there a adjustment screw on the trans similar to some other auto transmissions that adjust for a smoother shift between gears? Thanks for any help.

I have the same problem with my 97 Odyssey. Replaced the front engine mount which was broken with change. It will shift fine if under load but if you let off the gas pedal when it is shifting into high gear, it will really shift hard, almost **** your head back, and make a clunk noise like a bad universal joint on an old truck. I've replaced both axles and I've flushed the transmission 4 times, using Honda trans fluid. I've also tried adjusting the trans. cable in every position imaginable. Nothing seems to make a change at all. Not sure what the heck is causing this problem but it is very unnerving thinking it will damage the transmission. This has got to be something fairly simple. It shifts fine under load with the gas pedal depressed. Let off the gas pedal and let it shift coasting and it will make you think the trans. is going to drop out or brake an axle. Any help is appreciated.

It has nothing to do with the transmission, it's your engine mount thats bad.

2007 Chevy Avalanche 3rd and 4th gear are not working

From what you are describing, it is possible either the 3-4 actuator is no longer playing with the 3rd & 4th clutch packs, only way to know for certain is to hook up the good ol' pressure gauge to trans. system, yeah, you think the Chevrolet dealer should know this right?

Sell it now if you can!

I have a 2006 expedition the transmission will at very light throttle will shift 1st,2nd,3rd,& 4th with in 20 mph. All the setting like input & out put sensors are read correct. Mass Air flow

Is the transfer case in High or Low range? If there are no codes present I would almost suspect that the transfer case is in Low range, because of those shift speeds.

2006 Ford Explorer shifts hard between 2nd & 3rd gears, both up & down, but shifts normal between 1st & 2nd, and in & out of overdrive. All was normal then almost not working the next

It sounds as though your valve body may have a lot of particulates that have entered into it causing the valves to act sluggishly. Unfortunately, this is a condition that can only be taken care of by your mechanic and is not something that the average person can fix themselves.

Shifts from 1st to 3rd but not 4th.

I doubt it. I think your tranny is gonna need something ore than that if it made a snapping noise...:(

Trans

I had a similar problem with my 1997 F250 only with 1st & 2nd gear. At the same time the ABS light was on and the speedometer was acting eratic. In my case it was a bad speed sensor on the rear differential. About $30.00 and took me less than 15 minutes to fix.

I'm assuming you have already looked at the trans for any loose or worn electrical or vacuum lines and connections.
