14. Check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
15. Loose or corroded wire connection at the coil or plug between ignition sensor and ECM module.

SOURCE: I have a 1994 Pontiac Bonneville SSE.. won't start

It sounds like you have a short somewhere that is draining the battery...this type of thing is usually caused by a faulty voltage regulator. I recommend taking the alternator to an autoparts store to have it tested...don't be surprised if the alternator tests good; a faulty voltage regulator can and will drain a battery in a matter of hours. I am including a link where you can order a voltage regulator for your Bonneville or, while you are at the autoparts store, you can buy one there. The link will help you to see what the voltage regulator looks like so you can identify it in your engine compartment. Hope this helps, good luck!

You have a new battery and it cranks. Turning over is cranking. You are saying it won't start after sitting for six months? What is an old mechanic? Was the cable installed at home during the one year layoff? It sounds as though you failed to hold the old mechanic responsible for installing the correct cable or adjusting the one you have ,so it will start. You have a safety switch issue by the sound of it. Make sure you have the right cable and then find out how to install and if applicable, adjust properly

So, if when it happens you don't hear anything, perhaps it is your safety interlock switch acting up. Have you tried starting in neutral (assuming you have auto transmission)?

Please see my tip at http://www.fixya.com/cars/r6222268-engine_doesnt_crank_turn_over . These are generic instructions. If you get stuck or need specific instructions for your car, please get back to me with model, year and engine info.

Hi, Anonymous before testing any electrical component in the Starting System it is "IMPERATIVE" that you have a fully charged battery of 12.5 volts or more and be able to pass a proper "LOAD" test if necessary, you may have a preliminary reading of 12.5 volts or more but little or zero amperage, the battery is faulty and must be replaced. The goldwing has been garage kept and cranked abotu every two weeks. It is maintained with a battery tender and now will turn, but refuses to actually start.

Gold wings are notorious for the carbs going bad if they aren't ridden regularly. The gasoline gets old, the float bowls dry out and the jets get clogged. You can drain the tank and the float bowls and put some fresh gasoline in the bike. But, if that doesn't work, you'll need to have the carbs gone through and cleaned.

Good luck

Do you have one of those tiny batteries in there? The ones that lay flat, gel pack,? Did you put the gel in it? Did you charge it up overnight when it was first filled and sealed? I have the same problem, weak battery, same battery, 2002 S4, Even when the battery was new, it was sluggish. My bike sat all winter, soaking wet, never touched it, when I went out to start it, I put the charger on it and it fired right up. Everybody else had to go to the shop to get the carbs cleaned and the batteries replaced. Anyway, check the voltage, it should be 12.6 volts anytime. In a week it will run down, it is a static system. If it doesn't hold a charge, replace it. Or do what I do, charge the thing up every time. A battery tender will do the job. Hope this helps.

Battery draw

either that or your stator or the rectifier are not longer working right. try to check the output of those.
how old is the battery? if you have a battery tender, try putting the battery on the battery tender for a while.
if you have a draw on the battery, check any accessory that you may have installed and the cables that goes to them. look for loose connections or rusty ground

When i push the start button it just clicks

More than likely, its a weak battery. Some batteries will not hold a full charge. Try substituting a Known Good Battery. Keep in mind, just because a battery might read 12 volts. it does not necessarily mean the battery has the ability to crank over the engine. Try putting the battery on a little Battery Tender charger for a day and try again, or, as I said earlier, jump with a goog battery. Good luck.

NO START , COLD

have local auto parts store check the battery, it may have a couple bad cells, which would reduce cranking amps... would still have enough to run lights etc., but just not enough juice to start the car...
