If the engine isn't turning over, how can you be sure the starter is engaging? If you're just hearing a click, the starter solenoid is probably working, but may not be completing the circuit through the electrical contacts in the solenoid which activate the starter.
If the starter is actually engaging, and if the battery has proper power, but the engine is not turning over, you have a locked up engine - mechanical issues (or hydraulic lock if there is fluid in one or more combustion chamber). Try turning the engine with a socket and breaker bar on the front crankshaft pulley.

There is a service bulletin that I believe might take care of your problem. The bulletin number is 08-01-00 revision A.the problem is the starter relay fuse being blown.Check the fuse in the power distribution center. It is fuse D.If it is blown then you will have to replace the fuse and install the relay harness.Part number is 05019015AA.This is a Dodge part number and you will have to get it from the dealership.Hope this helps.Good luck.

are you sure you got the wires back on tight? Also it sounds like the bendex is not kicking out like it is supose to.....Did you change the starter cylenoied?

even some new starters are bad, it doesent happen much but it does happen. You might even take the starter back out and run Jumper cables to the starter. See if the bendex will kick out and stay out untial you diconect the starter......Sorry for your run of bad luck and I hope this is of some help.

SOURCE: won't start

If you have a spare key try that, if you have a security light on and flashing in the dash you have a fault with the anti theft system and that must be repaired to get the system working again.

I have a 2004 dodge Ram 1500 and the starter will not engage. Iights were bright. I took starter to parts store they said it was good

Are you saying the starter does nothing when the key is turned, or the starter turns but does not engage the engine/flywheel? If the former, you say you cleaned the battery cables, but did you clean both ends of the negative cable, especially where it attaches to the engine/frame. Try this, use just the negative jumper cable, connect it to the negative battery post and connect the other end to the engine at a good, solid location. Now try to start. If the starter turns now, you have a bad negative cable or ground connection.

05 300 chryler no power to the starter

Have you checked this with a multimeter at the starter while someone is turning the key into the start position? If not, then the starter might have failed.

There are a number of things that could prevent the starter from getting power or engaging. Starting from the simplest I would check:

1. The charge at the battery
2. If your car has any starter related fuses in the underhood fuse box, or a fusible link to the starter.
3. The starter relay, (try swapping a similar relay such as the fuel pump)
4. Any starter disabling features of a security system on the car?
5. The ignition switch may have failed.

REMOVED ALARM -STARTER WON'T ENGAGE-NO POWER TO ENGINE

When you removed the alarm unit you cut the line to the Starter kill switch that was installed. Remove the starter kill switch which is most likely located under the dash spliced into the ignition wiring harness.
