Vacuum line route

Ok, so call me stupid but this bike is killing me. 85 Honda Shadow VT500c. I've been looking for a vacuum leak and what do I find but a hose that splits into two at the carbs and the travels down and abruptly ends near the left crank case cover. I've looked all over and cant find a place for it to go. Am I dumb or blind?

Hi, would the hose be the carby drain, or carby vent as both of these go to atmosphere?. In regards your vacum leak, with the motor running, spray some carby cleaner or similiar near the suspected area, if the revs pick up, then you have found the suspected vacum leak area!
