1982 GS850 Missing and Hesitation

fuel flow to cold pipe cylinder may be stopped with trash or sticky float.Resistor in plug wire for the one not firing could be bad. Try changing coil from one that is firing to the one thats not,see if that pipe gets hot or does the same thing still happen. coil ,plug wire, or fuel would be my primary focus.

I need a detailed diagram of the carbs for my 1981 GSX 1100. The one in the Haynes manual I have is not very detailed.

Google babbitts sports center.com then click on buy oem parts and then select your specific bike. A parts diagram will come up, change the page from 'air cleaner' to 'carburetor' on the drop down menu and you can see your carb assembly. Hope this helps...

1982 Suzuki GS850 GL will only run with the starter button held

Obviously the CDI is picking up power from the starter button. Check the ignition key switch for proper operation. Chances are that whatever fried the loom also fried part of the switch. Alternate to that, trace the wire powering the CDI system, disconnect it at the source (starter button connection), then find a power source that is live only when the key is turned on and then hook the CDI wire up there.

an I get a “very helpful” rating on this answer?

Digital speedo jumping randomly up to299kmh not reading correct

The speedo drive sender is very common failure on these bikes following any maintenance involving the front wheel removal (like tire replacement)
The speed sensor is located on front axle on the right side of the wheel
The magnetic rotor gets broken because the drive detent is not properly engaged duing re-assembly.
Fortunately the replacement is relatively inexpensive and reasonably easy to replace if you are careful to engage the drive properly when re-installing wheel. Insert the drive into the wheel before bringing wheel up to forks and inserting axle.
