My 2001 impala has problems switching through gears while driving, only when speedometer bounces. Replaced speedo sensor, but still bunces.

When my speedometer bounces my car will jerk when it automatically switches through gears, sometimes it wont go past second gear. If the car sitis for a couple days it will drive perfect until it gets warm then the speedometer starts bouncing, and the car drives odd. not quite sure what the issue is, and I'm wondering if it could be a ground wire?

You replaced the wrong part ! Should have had the vehicle checked for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes . Replaced what speedo sensor ? No , it's not a ground wire !
Your probably have a bad wheel speed sensor ! Have it checked for DTC'S
Speedometer
The IPC displays the vehicle speed as determined by the IPC. The IPC calculates the mileage based on the class 2 vehicle speed message from the PCM. The IPC calculates vehicle speed based on the class 2 wheel speed message from the EBCM if a loss of communication or malfunction occurs with the PCM. The speedometer defaults to 0 km/h (0 mph) if the IPC detects a loss of class 2 communications with both the PCM and the EBCM.

EBCM - electronic brake control module - ABS

My engine light is on, my speedometer sometimes works and sometimes doesn't register, some times it bounces back and forth.

code p 500 refers to vehicle speed sensor (VSS) --circuit malfunction====causes ---wiring---VSS sensor---ECM
the engine light reports serious faults with both the engine and the transmission
I would go to an accredited auto transmission shop and have the VSS replaced or checked
The VSS drives the speedo, cruise control, gear changes ( reports to the transmission control module (TCM)

Replaced input and output speed sensors for erratic speedometer. Now the speedometer remains at 0. Anyone have a suggestion on what else could be wrong?

input and out put speed sensors tell the TCM and the ECM the difference between engine rpms and transmission input roms so that the correct gear ratio can be selected
A speedo sensor reads the out put shaft (drive line ) shaft and refers to road speed for speed and odometer readings and to calculate the fuel consumption rate
it is possible that you have replaced the wrong sensor
Talk with an accredited transmission specialist shop and have the problem diagnosed

Speedometer bounces when I drive. It seems to be the output sensor when I look at it while its running and in gear the output part is not spinning. I cant find the part

Spinning? This is an electronic magnetic sensor so it has no moving parts. If this is an older car with a cable operated speedo I would not call the output section a sensor, but rather the cable drive. A broken cable can make the speedo bounce, and if you disconnect the cable to look at the end of the drive unit you may be looking at a cable input guide which does not move vs. the internal part which spins. With cable removed, spin the inner part by fingers while helper views speedo. Does it move (try both directions). If cable is broken you can buy a universal repair kit.

Does 1992 Olds 88 have speedometer or speed sensor

Could be the speedo head the transducer is in the gear box or if it has a cable remove cable and grease.

Speedometer bounces from current speed down to zero (where it sometimes sticks)

It won't be a cable, as it's impossible for a cable driven speedo to perform this way.
It's an electronic speedo.

Check and/or replace the speedo sensor in the gearbox housing.

Speedometer bounces around

the cylindrical part may be a cruse control servo . the problem is more the likly in the cruse servo . thjere are gears in there witch wear out . you could buy a sppedo cable for a car with our cruise and by pass it . or replace the cruse servo

My speedometer stop working. I have a 05 sonata V6. I have replace part # 95400-3d300 hoping that my speedometer will function. Anyway, on the cluster it shows the miles when it stopped working only....

you dont say what the part is that you replaced!
So ill assume its the speedo sensor it may be the drive gear that drives the sensor worn out or sensor not aligned with its drive when replaced

Speedometer runs erratic and transmissions drops to second gear.

The ECM or TCM may be the culprit, its also possible that a ground wire is no longer grounded or partially grounded giving you the erratic speedometer.
