I have a 2002 HD 1200 Custom Sportster and I have lost compression in both cyclinders at the same time. Rode the bike and it ran fine. 2 weeks later I got on the bike and started it up and one cyclind

Changing spark plugs will not affect compression unless you put in the wrong reach plug and it hit and damaged a piston. Sounds more like stuck valves, bent pushrods, broken rockers, or cam drive problems.

Bike will not stay running

(1) harley vibrates make sure kickstand stays up.
(2) you have to find it. there is a tilt switch on bike.
if it lean over to far it will kill the bike. check to see if its ok.

What does the starter valve on carbs do

starter valve lowers compression just for starting purposes, many big single cyclinder bikes have them otherwise the compressions too great to kick start them. with yours same idea for the starter, making it easier for the starter to start the bike

Back cyclinder does not heat up,spark plug is firing, also has gas in carb

If it is definitely getting spark, then it is either a fuel delivery or valve/compression issue. I would try shooting a small spray of carb cleaner through the intake to the dead cylinder while it is running and see if it comes to life briefly. If so, you still have carb issues (those jet holes are tiny and clog quickly). If no life with the carb cleaner then you need to check compression on that cylinder. At least remove the spark plug and hold your thumb over the plug hole and crank it to see if it blows your finger away with compression. That will tell you if you have internal engine parts failing.

No compression all 4 cyclinders cbr250rr

I am no expert by any means but I had a similar problem. turns out the governor was turned down too low. Everything starts up but dies. Another thing it might be would be the choke. I have this bike and some times the choke gets stuck open and floods the engine.

Hi,
That looks like a REED VALVE leak.
If your 2 stroke kept coming out from the carb air intake and as you say that sometimes a back fire in the exhaust.

Check these....
  • Reed valve
  • Crank oil seal ( there might be air leak in the block )
  • Exhaust pipe ( might be already blocked )

Hope that helps you out!

Is the fuel tank located above the carburetors at about the same level as the original bike? If not, you may have to install an electric fuel pump to get the pressure at the carburetors about the same as the original bike (guessing about 1-1/2 to 3 PSI). I assume that you have checked things like firing order, timing, throttle slide balance, compression, and equivalent exhaust system. Did you see and hear the engine run before you installed it into the quad chassis? Hope some of this helps!

1981 550 suzuki one cyclinder is dead has spark and fuel and bike runs but start extremly hard seems cold blooded

Check compression of cylinders, all should be close the same. Swap spark plugs and check if problem cylinder moved. If bike sits for long periods of time then most likely it will be a plugged carburetor.
