You cannot bypass the ignition coil straight to the plug as the coil is essential in creating the high voltage needed within the ignition system itself. If you bypass the coil the engine will not run as there will be no significant spark to the engine.

Hope this helps. Please do rate my answer. Thanks.

2007 ATK dirt bike no spark

Hi, Ken and the usual suspects are:
1. Fouled spark plugs.
2. Severely discharged or a damaged battery, should have 12.5 volts or better and be able to pass a load test if necessary.
3. Check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
4. Loose connection at ignition coil or plug between ignition sensor and CDI box.
5. Spark plug cables in bad condition, shorting / leaking, spark plug cable connections loose, check for spark leakage in the dark.
6. Faulty ignition coil, pick up coil, trigger coil or CDI box testing needs to be checked with an ohmmeter at 70 degrees Fahrenheit
7. Faulty safety switches clutch, kickstand, neutral, off/on etc.
8. Faulty ignition switch.

Could be coil or kill switch... check spark plug wire and contact by pulling off and checking if it will arc when held within 1/4" from a metal part close enough to reach... do this when dark so u can see the arc if and when it happens... if no arc then replace wire, then coil... Good luck

Don't start no spark on plug

Hi, much more info needed.. Year, make, model. switch on & not defective? battery fully charged? Safety switch right handlebar in proper position? and functioning properly? Switch on clutch or kickstand shorted out or bypassed? Generaly speaking the wire to the plugs comes directly from the ignition coils.Power can't get to the plugs if the coils are not getting power. If it is a vintage bike, it may be that the ignition points are burned out. On a newer bike the stator/reluctor
assembly may be acting up/defective/shorted out. Not an easy problem to diagnose over the computer. Good Luck

I have a 78 kz650, I have had the carbs rebuilt and rejetted and i still keep losing power to both the inside cylinders. the plugs are firing. now I have been told that other than the fact that the carbs...

2 and 3 run off the same coil which sounds suspiciously like a coil failing.
What does the dealer do to make it run for a day? like putting new plugs in

If the carbs are not flooding and have beeen properly jetted they shouldnt cause a problem.
30 year old bikes dont often have genuine mufflers on them, so they need jetting to suit
If the carbs are standard I wouldnt consider changing them.
Standard carbs work best with a standard air box and filter.
Make sure the fuel tap is working correctly(no flow unless the engine is running) in case its sucking fuel down the vac line.

I have a yamaha dirt bike that someone stole and

Check the igniter. Go back to the dealer and ask him to see one. Then go back and find it on your bike. Yamaha's usually have them under the seat, or left side. But I don't know exactly what year you have. Run the VIN on the frame under my tips and tricks is a web site that'll break it down for you.

Does the car have spark plug wires? i went to purchase some wires but the clerk said my car takes coil packs.. so do that mean i dont need wires for the spark plug tune-up??

So you want to tune it up , but someone has to tell you it has no wires? Have you looked at the engine at all? why do you want to do a tune up? The coils are very problem prone, and you need to use care in replacing the spark plugs, use only Auto-lite or Motorcraft platinum spark plugs, and use a silicone grease in the boots. After you remove the coil, blow compressed air down the tube an dblow out any dirt, before removing the spark plug. Wires are/were never an item for a tune up, unless they were bad. Replace the fuel filter.

No spark =/

sounds like no spark, remove spark plug from engine pop it back into plug cap, hold spark plug with insulated pliers,so electrode is earthed on engine head get some one to trie to start engine wilst you earth plug and see if it sparks.if it dont trie another spark plug if still no spark bye a spark plug tester from local motorfactors (fits between spark plug and cap)screw sparkplug back into engine pop on plug tester pop coil leed on top of tester and trie to start if you see no spark in tester your coil pack probably shoot.or if it has an engine safety cutoff switch that may be faulty

Dirt bike with no spark

I dont know how much you know about dirtbikes but you need to check the points. They are located under the fly wheel and they allow the engine to send a spark to the coil pack which then sends it to the spark plug. The fly wheel is under the side case, which is only held by a few screws.Once you get that off,the points,Which are under the fly wheel, just need to be cleaned off with a little sand paper. if that dosent help the spark then check the coil pack. The coil pack is the black box where the spark plug cable wire comes out of. look and see if its melted or broken in any way. If the coil is not ruined then you might need a new spark plug cable.
