What size bolt heads on these bolts (the bolts size chart for correct torque specs is 2mm smaller than the head of the bolt on Kaw).while the forks are still off and the end caps also still off, hold them level (up/down) and by hand (which will be easy because the caps are off to let the springs come out past the tube-but leave them in as they change the amt. of fluid goin in)push down slow to compress and bottom them out then fill till you get 100mm from inside the top of the forks tube is on the mark.then pull them back to fully extended ,put the caps CAREFULLY back on so they dont stripp the soft threads up.P.S.if this was used at a track there are 2 inexpensive brass or copper bushings inside the big tubes top and a bit lower that will get worn and let the inner fork tube **** back and fourth as it compresses in and out that causes the seals to leak again very soon because it flexes the round inner part of the fork seal to become out of round (not tight all around the tube for correct sealing) from slack and to much movement from the above mentioned cheap bushings wear.I cut em out with a dremmel and freeze the new ones for easy insertion with fingers to not nick em from tappin in with a hammer, etc.good luck, wallace

I want specs for ATF. I have to change it because the current oil is really dirty. i have a vw golf 4

You do not even say what year your car is.

Ring the local VW dealer service people and they will tell you the correct spec AT fluid to use in your model and year of vehicle. The ATF spec can change from year to year depending on the model of Auto Trans used.

Toque spec for clutch springs

You can play an adjustment with your spring, the best adjustment is when your bike does't have a running cluth situation, and once you press the cluth lever and release it you'll have power just like jumping .and thats it.

What are the fork oil specs for a 1999 Yamaha YZ 250? Is there some mathmatical equation to figure this out that would work on most bikes? Does weight or riding style play a part? I would like to find out...

Well you have indeed come to an interesting subject, and there is a lot to work out on correct viscosity and choosing the right oil with at least a viscosity index of at least 150(the higher the index number, the less likely it is going to change with temp),but I won't go into that now.

Here is a basic sort of 'rule of thumb' that has worked for me as a good starting point for trail/MX larger forks with long travel (inverted or standard)from 125 upwards is +/- 200cc of ATF(AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID).

I would not recommend SAE oil as something marked 5wt can actually be more viscous than another oil marked 7.5wt.Yamaha recommend S1 suspension oil and I would assume that this would be the correct oil for your bike ,but failing to get this you can use Mobil 1 ATF fork fluid or alternatively just standard ATF which you can probably get at your local garage.

Your bike I think is 195cc of S1 for each fork.
The heavier the person riding, the pre-load should be increased or if not the facility for this you can fit spacers /change springs and visa-verse for a lighter bloke. Most modern bikes have simple screws where you can change the compression damping etc. to suit the application ,but older bikes you need to change the oil to less/more viscous or re-valve them.

I hope this has answered your questions.

Please get back to me if you need more help

1992 gold wing 1500 looking for the fork oil level and torque specs for the tube pinch bolts and steering stem bolt?

Fork oil capacity should be 10.9 oz in the left, and 10.8 oz right. Lower pinch bolt torque is 40 ft-lb and upper is 8 ft-lb. The steering stem nut is 72 ft-lb and the steering stem adjustment nut is 17 f-lb.

KX 125 (2003) motorcycle

its 120 mm or 4.7 inches from the top of the fork
Some measure the oil quantity and fill the fork up, some fill the fork up and measure the oil level. The most correct method is to measure the level, I guess, but many guys measure in quantity.. both ways work well.

Clutch fluid

Use 5wt. fork oil or ATF Dextron II/III. I've use both and have the 5wt. fork oil in now. Suppose to have a lighter pull but can't really tell any difference. Use a large syringe to pump the oil in from the bleeder at the bottom up to the master cylinder.
