It is a simple fix. you can get the specs from your local dealers parts person. and the valves are under two caps on the top of the jug. the caps have two small allen screws holding them on. just remove the caps, you will see the top of the valves, there is a small jam nut with the top of the adjuster sticking out. it has a small slot in it. loosen the jam nut, then check the clearance with feeler gauge. turn the center of the adjuster with the slot in it with a small flat screw driver to adjust the clearance. then tighten the jam nut. if you have any experience working on engines this will be a simple thing for you to do.

HELLO; Im a partime quad mechanic, so here goes. The easy way is to remove the front fender and fuel tank, now there are two plastic plugs on the left side of the motor down by the shift lever one is larger than the other, remove both then there is a large round cover on the left side of the head, with two allen bolts, remove that.NOW.... the fun begins, witha socket on the nut down on the crank turn the engine over clockwise you will see a T come up aline it with the pointer on the case, now look up and see if the pointer is alined with the cam on the head it has a pointer up there as well, when you get these alined then you can use a feeler gauage to set the valves,I forgot, remove the two covers both front and back on both ends of the head and you will see the valves then proceed. If you have trouble you can get a manual on a disk for about $6.00 on line or hard copy. GOOOD LUCK.......GREASY

2-wheel ATV 4-wheeler won't go forwards but will go in reverse

If this is an automatic 4-wheeler, the shifting fork will bend when shifting from fwd to rev. or vis-versa. because your not completely stopped when you change directions. (kids do this to mine so many times I am tired of changing the darn thing) The part costs appx $50. Looking at the old part you can't tell it's bent.... If it's a manual tranny then your linkage is worn and needs adjusted.

I have a 1998 yamaha warrior yfm 350cc 4 wheeler that was running good then all of a sudden when u give it any throttle it starts spitting and sputtering. i was told it may be out of timing. my ? is how...

I doubt that timing is the problem. Chances are the carb float bowl has filled with condensation from the gas tank. Try draining the carb. Please rate my answer. tombones49_77.gif

Have a 2003 350 yamaha warrior 4 wheeler I pour gas in carburetor to get it to start it runs fine when i shut it off i have to pour gas in again

A common problem with Yamaha 4 wheelers is soft rubber on the intake manifolds. They will often crack or separate causing poor running. I think you are either dealing with a cracked, broken, or separated intake manifold or a cracked, broken, or missing intake o-ring on either end of the intake manifold. Take the manifold off and inspect the manifold and the o-rings.

How do I adjust the valves on my 2003 Yamaha Warrior YFM 350X?

first you need to remove everything that covers your valve covers(gas tank etc.) remove the intake valve cover, and the rotor nut and timing plug.set the engine a t.d.c.(top dead center)fit a socket onto the rotor nut and turn it counterclockwise until the"I" mark appears align it with the index mark in the timing hole.use a flat feeler gauge between the top of the valve and the adjuster.loosen the locknut and turn the adjuster just until you feel resistance on the feeler guage.hold the adjuster and tighten the lock nut down.i can not tell you the min.clearance spec to your quad since i have a 660 raptor.try using the smallest clearance number.

with the cylinder set at top dead center compression. using a feeler gauge between the tappets and the valves there should be .002-.003in clearance on the intake valves, and .006-.007in. clearance on the exhaust valves. thank you.
