Hose from back of crank case with a mini filter on it spits about a pint of oil out after bike sits for two weeks, is this normal? and does anyone have schematic for oil lines for 1991 softail. i do have...

Oil can drain down from bag if sitting a while it drains to engine there was & maybe a check valve in the rt side rear of cam cover area. it looks like a big screw. in there is a spring then a steel ball remove & clean check ball for pits & seat area on hole. some draining is normal..ride safe..

Hi,
As long as the freezer is not plugged in while on it's side and after you put it right side up you wait an hour to let all the compressor oil drain back to normal nothing bad can happen.

Changint Oil on my 2001 Fatboy. Pulled drain plug and a half a cup of oil drained out. Pulled dip stick to see oil tank is still full. Disconnected drain line from tank leading to motor. Found it to be...

Sound like you pulled the wrong plug to me. The oil drain plug in under your bike. Look at the oil tank from the right side of your bike. Near the rear of the tank, there's a large hose that runs downward towards the rear of the transmission. It continues down and looks like it connects to a crossmember on the frame. If you'll look under that crossmember, you'll find a plug that uses an Allen wrench or hex key to remove.

Do not remove the oil line that goes from the tank to the engine. However, you said that you found it to be plugged. Plugged with what? If the oil infeed line got plugged, it's because something has gotten into the tank. Drain the tank and check to find out what is inside the tank.

Good Luck

Where is the oil drain plug on the 88 c.i.H.D.2003

On all Softail models, look along the bottom of the oil tank from the right side of the bike. You'll see a line or hose going downward towards the transmission. Usually, unless the changed something, the line will come out along the frame down below and behind the transmission. There will be a plug in the end of the line. Remove the plug to drain the oil.

Good luck

Where is the oil drain plug on2009 heritage softail classic

Although I don't normally work on bike newer than 2000 models, I don't think they've changed the oil drain on the Softail models. Look at the bottom of the horse shoe type oil tank from the right hand side of the bike. You should see a line or hose going down somewhere behind the transmission instead to forward to the engine. Follow this line down to the lower part of the frame and you'll see a plug in the line. If you take this plug out, the oil in the tank will drain out. Capacity 3 quarts H-D Syn3 20W50 oil

Good Luck

Starter on 2000 fatboy. cant get starter past oil bag.

Your starter is connected to a jackshaft Assembly behind your primary cover. A long 1/4" bolt attaches them together. You need to remove the bolt. There is a coupler that joins the starter to the jackshaft that may fall out behind you primary, don't lose it and make sure it is put back on in the right direction when reassembeling. The torqe on the jackshaft screw is minimal (like 7 to 10foot lbs) and don't forget to use some blue locktite on it.
