Get a manual as you will be in over your head if you haven't done one before, and it will have all the steps in there to do it. There are a bunch of parts in the lower leg of the fork. If you want a better set up then you have, I would look at replacing them with some 89-97 model forks as they are adjustable, and our 88 models are not.

How are the front forks in my suzuki bandit 600 (1998) made up i.e if i take them apart to replace the springs and oil what will i find inside them ???

That is a good one. You are going to find springs and oil! Unless the seals are leaking, you shouldn't have to touch the forks. If the springs are shot, I would just get a new set of forks. But that is rare. You have to take them apart and spill the oil all over the place and get the seals off and the new ones on. There are books written about your specific forks, just have to dig. They tell you to get a pan like a wallpaper pan, and about 40 newspapers, and pull the tops off and catch the oil, then pull the springs out with all the washers etc, Not a hard job.Need about 2 bottles of fork oil, each one takes about 3/4 of a bottle. It is a premeasured amount, you will have to look that up too. Hope this helps.

98 yzf 600R..Right fork leaking. Problem and fix?

it sounds like your fork seal has failed,it wont affect your brakes but will make your front suspension feel a wee bit "soggy"and will affect your handling,i would suggest getting the seal replaced as evetually the oil from the faulty seal will contaminate your brake pads that will affect your braking performance, replacing the seal, sooner rather than later ,would be a wise move..hope this helps...cheers

Replacing the front seal- located on the fork.

To replace the fork seal you must open the top of the fork and remove the spring. Then drop the fork tube out of the clamp. Once the fork tube is removed replacing the seal is simply pulling the old one off and putting the new one on. You will need to remove your front wheel.

2004 honda shadow 600 VLX leaking fork seal bike has 600 miles on it should I replace left and right if only right is leaking.

check first to see if the leaking fork has any rust pitting on the chrome,if it has and its a very small blemish then fettle it off first, and just replace the leaking seal,as the saying goes..if it aint broke dont fix it,if the seals had been in the forks for years and the bike not used then consider replacing both..

Front fork seal is leaking

Yep, drain the fork oil, raise the front wheel in the air, remove the front wheel and axle. The nut to remove the lower leg is at the bottom, hidden by the axle. If it still leaks after seal replacement your fork tubes and lower leg sliders are worn out. Reassemble and remove the top fork cap. Pour in the correct cc of fork oil and ride.

Fork seal replacement

Did you try taking down the fork seal and cleaning out with wd/40 and a piece of 30mm film? You should always try this first. The seals rarely go bad. There's probably just a vary small rock holdeing it open and the film will dislodge it the wd is just to help things along.
