Question about Motorcycles

I have a 95 magna and it has a misfire at low speed. They stripped the carbs (cracked float) and told me that it was fixed. NOT FIXED! has anyone got any idea why it won't run smooth at city speed?

Try replacing the distributor cap as the smallest crack allows the spark to track away from the plug lead
replace the plug leads with quality leads
make sure that the rubber insulation around the ceramic part of the plug is clean

    The electrics are all good apparently but the problem persists. It's a problem in the fueling but where?

    if you had injectors I would agree with a fuel problem but you state carby so the problem is electric and intermittent spark that is the misfire

After cleaning carb, I now have raw gas coming out the exhaust???


Hi, Barry and the usual suspects are:
1. Dirt or other foreign matter between float valve and its seat.
2. Float valve sticking.
3. Float valve and/or valve seat worn or damaged.
4. Float misadjusted.
5. Float cracked, leaky or damaged.
6. Excessive "PUMPING" of hand throttle grip.

Why does my bike misfire at low revs itsok above 3000rpm ive cleaned out the carbs and the jets are all clean


look at float bowl inlet- likely its letting too much fuel in that at low RPM the engine floods and sputters.. at higher speed the bike can use the leaking fuel thus no misfire.. Check timing.. check if your heads are carboned up

Vf750 honda idles but dies when throttle opened


Hi, Anonymous and the usual suspects are:
1. Idle port, transfer ports, slow air jet clogged.
2. Idle adjusting screw set too low.
3. Air fuel mixture adjustment too lean.
4. Pilot/slow fuel jet clogged.
5. Faulty accelerator pump.
6. Float level too low.
7. Float bowl contaminated old fuel, water, dirt, rust, etc.
8. Carburetor bowl vent line clogged/blocked/pinched.
9. Fuel line to carburetor kinked or pinched.
10. Fuel filter clogged.
11. Intake manifold leak.
12. The gas cap is not venting properly or fuel tank venting system blocked.
13. Vacuum line from intake manifold to petcock broken, cracked, or not attached, carburetor vent line plugged.
14. Needle and seat stuck closed in the float bowl.
15. Multi carburetors not in sync.
16. Faulty fuel pump.

Misfire in #4 cylinder when cold fires when warms up 1994 honda v45 Magna


Hi, Anonymous and the usual suspects are:
1. Severely discharged or a damaged battery should have 12.5 volts or more and be able to pass a proper "LOAD" test if necessary, you may have a cursory reading of 12.5 volts or more but little or zero amperage the battery is faulty and must be replaced, AGM batteries fail in this scenario more so than lead acid batteries.
2. Check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
3. Spark plugs in bad condition or partially fouled.
4. Spark plug cables in bad condition and leaking check for spark leakage in the dark
5. Spark plug gap too close or too wide.
6. Faulty ignition coil, module, and or sensor.
7. Loose, dirty, or corroded ignition module connector at crankcase.
8. Faulty CKP or CMP, MAP, ETS, ATS, TPS, O2 sensor.
9. Dirty air filter.
10. Intake air leak.
11. Water, dirt, or rust in the fuel system.
12. Carburetor contaminated, sticky float, plugged jets.
13. Carburetor vacuum diaphragm torn, cracked, not seated or installed improperly.
14. Multiple carburetors out of sync.
15. Fuel filter clogged.
16. Old or contaminated fuel.
17. Fuel tank vent system plugged or carb vent line closed off.
18. Gas cap diaphragm valve faulty.
19. Vacuum line from intake manifold to fuel valve is broken, cracked, pinched, or missing.
20. Carburetor controls misadjusted.
21. Incorrect valve timing.
22. Valve springs floating, weak, or broken.

Gas leaking when pull the choke out


there ,s to much fuel going into your float bowl sound like either the floats are sticking or may be damaged ,strip your float bowl and give it a good clean with carb cleaner and also give the carb a good clean as well it might have dirt trapped in the jets

1. Fuel cap or fuel tank is not venting properly.
2. Fuel filter clogged.
3. Fuel line pinched or kinked.
4. Vacuum line from the petcock to intake manifold cracked.
5. Float needle and seat sticking.
6. Float level too low.
7. Carburetor bowl vent line clogged/blocked/pinched.
8. Idle adjusting screw set too low.
9. Air/fuel mixture screw set too lean.

Hi, Tom and the usual suspects are:
1. Magna 750 carb bowl blocked


sorry but you're going in. the float needle sound like they are plugged. the best way to go is to pull the carbs and clean them out. Don't adjust anything! Then I would recomend installing an inline fuel filter
