Hydralulic pump for ABS keeps running after vehicle turned off.

2000 Ford 4.6L Expedition. Today, the ABS light came on and remained, so I know it is an ABS related problem. The Hydraulic pump keeps running after turning the vehicle off; so I unplugged the connection (2 wire) from the unit to stop it. It is easy to simply say "take it to a garage", but is there something I can check to possiblly find the problem before I Have to take it in.

Unless you have a scanner and testing equipment and know exactly what wires to test good luck, it could be just about anything that could cause that pump to run.Best bet go to a shop.Even with all my experience I don't diag ABS problems on the side.

1998 expedition yesturday was low on fuel got gas drove with headlights on got 4 miles down road vehicle died thought was bad gas 3hrs later vehicle would run but abs light and brake light would flash

There is a problem in the electrics of the vehicle. First place to start is to check the alternator drive belt for condition and tension. Next place is the battery terminals and condition and tension . Third place is to have a load test done on the battery as it may have an internal short and drawing all the current from the alternator. In effect when you add power requirements ( park lights then brake lights then headlights) you are actually using more current than the alternator can supply to keep the engine system running.

How do you turn off the abs

Safety feature on this vehicle, only way to disable it is to either pull the abs relay out from the fuse block under neith the hood or even pull out the abs fuse, however the abs light will stay illuminated because of this..

My 2000 Ford Expedition XLT's check engine light

I'm probably not going to be able to give you a proper diagnosis without knowing which codes are setting the check engine light. There are about 300 problems that can set the light. Most common thing for your vehicle with not running bad is what they call the DPFE (differential pressure feedback) sensor. It's basically a vacuum/pressure monitor for the EGR system and they get stopped up or corrode as they have exhaust gases running through them and are made from aluminum or plastic. If you post code numbers (go to advance or autozone and they will read them for free) and I can give you a better idea of what the problem is.

Everytime i press gas my abs light and my battery light turns on and then when i release the gas it turns back off and all my gauges at times they go crazy up and down but the car still runs great

Sounds like a battery, charging system, serpentine belt slipping problem. Just drive the vehicle to a Auto Zone and have them check the battery and charging system. Please let me know if this helps.

ABS LIGHT CAME ON,NOISE COMING FROM ENGINE COMPARTMENT AROUND BRAKE CYLINDER AFTER VEHICLE IS TURNED OFF,WHICH THEN DRAINED BATTERY

The noise is a clicking noise which means the abs is engaged due to a bad sensor, which runs the battery down after it runs for a while. A shop can read abs codes with a scanner.

Hi my abs light keeps coming on in my 2000 ford expedition. I would like to check the fluid level but I cant find the pump. Would you be able to explain where it is located?

The brake fluid is on top of the master cylinder in a reservoir. Yes the level being low cause light to come on but so could many other reasons.
