,if you put the front brake on and push down as far as shock will let you go that's when it touches the frame at the back of arch could front forks be bent

Shocks are bad , they should never go that far . perhaps they need recharged with oil

Can a shock tower on a ultra classic be depreesed far enough to damage back of front fender


I don't know about your particular bike because I can't see it but I have seen this type of damage done by pulling the front end down too tightly while transporting a bike on a trailer. If someone uses those "rachet type" straps and the bike is equipped with an oil cooler on the frame downtubes or one of those "chins" that cover the front engine mount, it is possible to pull the front end down far enough to cause the cooler or chin to get into the back of the fender. But, as for your particular bike, the only way to know for sure is to pull it down and see if it will touch. If the front forks bottom out before it touches, then it won't do it.

I had to loosen the front shock to remove the front fender. ( New paint job). I unscrewed the top cap and released the spring. Now the threads are down in the tube to far to reach. How do I get them back...


Just pull up on the tube until it is as high as the other tube (even with the top of the upper triple clamp) and tighten the lower triple clamp so it does not slide down in the upper and lower triple clamp. If you do not pull the tube back up and tighten the clamps, when you push down on the spring to put the cap back on the metal fork tube will just slide down the clamps again.

I have a 2000 Suzuki 1500 LC, I've got a wobble in the front end when I'm going about 30 -40 mph. I've been told that it's fork oil but not sure it has oil in it as it's got springs. Any idea what it...


A wobble that appears when slowing down is many times just low tire pressure. Check the front tire pressure should be 32-35 pds. Another thing that can cause a wobble is worn or loosely adjusted fork frame neck bearings(steering stem bearings). Disassemble around the handlebars down to the frame neck till you get the upper triple clamp off or can reach the adjuster nut , just underneath on top of the frame neck enough to tighten the steering stem bearings. You will need a shock adjusting tool (curved end with a single tooth) Comes standard in all Honda tool kits). Next, put a jack under the motor to lift the front wheel . Carefully wiggle the front wheel to see if you have a bad wheel bearing. If you do not have fork oil in your forks, you could possibly damage the chrome tubes. No oil would mean the forks would not go up and down smoothly. Do not add oil to your forks. Do not over fill your forks with oil. If you are not sure how much oil is in them, drain them and refill them with the correct amount. If you over fill the forks and drive the bike you will destroy the fork tubes.

Does the front shocks on a 1982 1100 GS take air pressure. If so how much. The exhaust pipes are hitting my front fender now when I stop hard or go over bumps.


if there are air valves, those early bike sometimes needed air, about 5psi, do not use a compresor, use a small hand pump, or proper low pressure inflator. A standard tyre inflater will blow the seals.
The guard should not hit no matter what the pressure, check the exhaust is the correct one for the bike,check for a bent frame or forks

Front forks will not push down at all,how do u adjust softness? and rear is so soft that it bottoms out on jumps,how do u ajust?


wrench or hand turn rear mono shock. Extend the shock for more resistance. Are the front forks air or gas? If they are not pushing down then the rebound is problem bottomed out , air valve on top of forks

If you mean triple clamp, do not ride it. Pull tires and tubes and replace. Do not weld
