Hi, Ray I would really love to help you but due to the magnitude of yesterday's solar flare the batteries in my crystal ball are dead and my mental telepathy headset circuitry was melted. I need the year, make, and model of your motorcycle please click on the word "COMMENT" below and provide this information in the box that will open and then click on the green comment box in the bottom right-hand corner after it posts I will receive an "ALERT" icon that will allow me to respond to your information.
Good luck and have a wonderful day.

What can cause engine stalling with temp & transmission lights coming on on Honda Rancher 420 4x2 ATV

Your problem sounds like a loose wire connection. Going by your description, I would reccomend you start looking at the wiring at the front. Good Luck

My guage runs half way whike riding and climbs up to 3/4 some times is this usual the other day it went up to the light comming on.

it should sit around half, may get to 3\4 on a hot day riding hard, but should not get to light on stage.
Check the fan comes on when it gets hot
Check cap or renew
Check thermostat or renew
Change coolant\flush radiator
Check for leaks
pressure test coolant system

it may even be a problem with the sender for the temp gauge, if it doesnt seem hot and the fan doesnt start

My Thunderbird's temp light comes on after only 3 miles of riding. Replaced the thermostat, temp probe, coolant. Am tempted just to disconnect the lead to the probe, but know better than that. Any ideas?

A. take the probe out put it in water with some sort of heat source and a food thermometer se what temp it turns the light on. B. test the temp on the bike . if both are operating properly this way thenit leaves a fault in wiring. if the lightonly comes on at high rpms then u might have a shift light and your lights are pluged in wrong
