It may but quality air cleaners do not affect air low velocity or change tuning of the engine you can get the air flow specs for each air filter by googling the name of the filter and reading the air velocity graphs for each filter brand

Throttle position sensor noisy

Are you sure it's not the idle air valve as they can sound louder after changing to a high flow filter...take the filter off and shine a light in the intake when turning the ignition on and off. The idle valve is just inside the intake in a hole at the top...see if it moves in time with the noise that you hear

I have 1996 sportster 1200 and it back fires when I down shift it has a screaming eagle air filter on it and can't find stock plugs and jets

Hi Rocky, popping, coughing, spitting, or backfiring through the carburator or induction module can be caused by air getting sucked in combustion chamber do bad intake seals leaking. Leaking exhaust gaskets can also be suspect. Remove air cleaner and backing plate, while engine is idling spray WD-40 or Brake Kleen around intake manifold to head area, if RPM's increase you have an intake leak and seals need to be replaced, also spark plugs will be burning whiter than normal. Good luck

How do I Reprogram ECM with Screamin Eagle EFI race tuner kit (pn 32107-01E) WITHOUT DYNO.

You can use a laptop or desktop computer to reprogram the ECM. If you do this, you will be changing the maps in the computer. The maps may or may not properly tune the bike, depending on accessories such as air cleaner and exhuast, and what modifications, if any, were made to the engine., Dyno tuning is the way to go. It monitors air flow, fuel flow, exhaust gasses, etc. Air and fuel can be added and/or deleted from any part of the map for the most efficient operation. Not using a dyno is just guessing and you could make the bike run worse.

Hi Errol, and the usual suspects are:
1. Spark plugs in bad condition or partially fouled.
2. Spark plug cables in bad condition or leaking.
3. Spark plug gap to close or to wide.
4. Faulty ignition coil, module and or sensor.
5. Battery nearly discharged.
6. Damaged wire or loose connections at battery terminals especially the ground cable at BOTH ends, ignition coil, or plug between ignition sensor and module.
7. Intermittent short circuit due to damaged wire insulation.
8. Water or dirt in fuel system, carburetor or filter.
9. Fuel tank vent system plugged or carburetor vent line closed off.
10. Carburetor controls misadjusted.
11. Damaged carburetor or intake seals.
12. Loose or dirty ignition module connector at crankcase.
13. Faulty MAP, CKP, and or CMP sensors.

Hi Lorena, and the usual suspects are:
1. Insufficient oil supply or oil not circulating.
2. Insufficient air flow over the engine.
3. Heavy carbon deposit in combustion chamber.
4. Ignition timing retarded due to faulty MAP, CKP and/or CMP sensors.
5. Leaking intake or exhaust valve.
6. No oil cooler.
7. Normal engine oil tempurature 180-220 degrees.
Good luck and have nice day.

I own a 1997 fatboy 1340 evo with 26,000 miles on it,, i have straight pipes no baffles and a nice custom air cleaner and a screaming eagle power comander under the seat, bikes been running fine for a year...

that maybe part of it but the carb needs ajustin and cleanin--backfire is from a rich condition-so the float level can be wrong or the jets have issue--also make sure ur gitten proper spark voltage cause if low then not all gas is burned

I took off the factory mufflers on my suzuki m50 that is fuel injected and put straight pipe on it. Drove it for awhile and now it wont run unless the air cleaner is off. How can I adjust it?

There is no adjustment on the fuel injection model unless you put it on a computer and have it remapped.

When you put straight pipes on the bike, you did away with a baffle that was in your stock pipes.
so now there is no back pressure, and your bike is breathing now.
But it can't breath if it can't get the air.
When you remove the air cleaner it breaths.
So you need to purchase a High-Flow air filter.
If you have an airbox, you may need to eliminate that as well, but start with just the high flow fliter first.
When putting on straight pipes and a high flow air filter , you will also need to increase your carburetor main jet size at least 1-2 numbers:example:stock 120 go to 122.
if you don't increase the main jet your bike will run lean and hot.

Once done you'll be able to crack that throttle and the whole neigborhood will here ya.
Loud pipes save lives.
Best Regards
Big Al

I have a 2008 flhx with samson slip on mufflers.i want to install screaming eagle high flow air cleaner and not sure which fuel mangement system to use.ive looked at terry components terminal velocty,and...

I've heard great things about the Terry components tuner but havnt used one yet. If u plan on doing any motor work or anything in the future I would use the hd super tuner. The power commander is also really nice and there are alot of maps available online for free. If u have a local dealer or shop u like using, see what they prefer to tune with on their dyno, that way if u have an issue with the bike they will be familiar with the component. Good luck!

I want to remove the baffels from stock 06 Sportster mufflers

not a good idea unless you upgrade the air cleaner to a high flow or screaming eagle...bike is tuned to run with restricted pipes..if you change one you need to change the other..with the 06 you could also need a download or fuel management system..
