Question about 1994 Suzuki GSX-R 750 WR

2 Answers

I just purchased a 94 Katana 750cc -- sort of a project bike. The bike has just under 13K miles and the previous owner stated that he had only put about 500 miles on it, in the last 2 years. When I first started the bike the RPM's were high -- about 4K/min. After giving it gas, the RPM's came down to about 1200, and then it died. I finally did get it started again, drove it home -- about 45 miles, running through the gears. Since then, it still starts and drives fine, but the idle in neutral never drops below 3500 - 4000, no matter what I do. There has been no sputtering or back-firing. The bike runs smooth -- just the issue with the idle. Does this sound like a throttle or carb problem? Also, any thoughts on a fuel additive like Seafoam? Would this help or create other issues? Thanks for the assist! Bill

Sounds like it sat allot.. That causes problems with the carbs.. I would say it runs pretty good for sitting so much.. I would suspect the carbs need cleaning.. or maybe rebuilt,, jetted and synced.. Try some carb cleaner and work you way up from there..

Rate well ;o)

Check for vacuum leaks as they could cause a high idle.

I have a Suzuki Katana 600 that shuts off when put in gear. I want to check the kick stand switch and neutral switch but don't know where they are?

the neutral switch is inside the gear box, but the side stand can be seen from under the bike, the best way to check if its the problem is to pull both wires off and sort them out with a split pin or jump lead of some sort its more likley to be the side stand causing this problem as its a safty idear,,,
now who drives off with the side stand down,,,,,,me?

If the bike was not used that often, the previous owner may have started the bike in the garage, just to give the motor a run. With no air travelling over the pipes, they do get very hot.Enough to cause melting. This happens to almost any engine exhaust.(car or bike). If you run it in a garage even a household fan blowing on the pipes is enough to get rid of a lot of the heat.Hope this helps

Can i get a frame with a title and register my bike under that frame and title with out rebuilding it?

You can do whatever you want so long as you don't get caught and convicted for falsifying state documents. Put your motor in the legal frame then register the bike with the new frame number and the current engine number.

How to attach fuel line and all hanging lines under gas tank

Its not easy to know what the wires are for. They could have been for an alarm from the previous owner which was removed. Is the bike running ok? Tape up the wires individually until their purpose is known. Here is a link to the manual where you will find wiring diagrams. Wires will be colour coded.
Rate me if this helps you, thanks and good luck with the new bike.
