If this is a kick start bike, try giving the throttle a few twists before you start kicking

I can't get my 06 crf 250 to kick start but it

the same thing happened to me its probably your valve clearance and need to be shimmed or if they worn really bad they need to be replaced..regarding roll starting your bike it damages your bike further and your engine could seize.

Is the choke on in the up or down position crf 150 f 2005

try in both positions when trying to start it,kick it a couple of times in the up position if it starts and idles a little high then choke on,then push it down while running,if idle smooths, then choke is off,may have to do it couple times, but you will be able to tell the difference.

2007 honda crf 250 r hard starting when cold ,

There is a proper way to start an engine. Most bikes have four controls to assist in starting.
  • The choke, used when the engine is cold. Pull the red knob for choke.
  • The " Hot Start " Lever, used when the engine is hot. Pull the lever to lean the fuel mix when the engine has been running.
  • The de-compression lever, always used.
  • The throttle, used to prime the cylinder.
Don't kick, instead, push the kick lever downward. You will feel the back pressure as the piston is going upward on the compression stroke to the point the pressure is great enough that the kick lever "locks up". You are very close to TDC. NOW, pull in the de-compression lever. Push the kick lever a little bit more to get the piston past TDC. Now release the de-compression lever. Give the throttle a 1/4 turn then let it snap closed. A diaphragm in the carb gives a shot of gas when this is done. DO NOT do this multiple times because you will flood the engine. Leave the throttle closed when kicking. A flooded engine will often backfire. Now give a strong kick through the full sweep of the kick start lever. Quickly get your foot off the kick lever at the end of the kick to avoid any chance of "kickback" from the kick lever. This happens in the case of a misfire, aka > backfire. It can be very painful, and can even break a leg. I am serious about that. Repeat the process (but without the throttle priming), until the bike starts. Go ahead and give it another primer shot after the 5th kick attempt. A good battery, a clean spark plug, a clean carb and clean air filter will also aid in starting.

2004kx250f won't kick start, can push start. popping when decelerating, won't idle

idle jet has probably got blocked, there are two jets, an idle and a main, when your bump starting it is most likely using the main jet and when you decreas the throttle it is coming onto the blocked idle jet. take the idle jet out of the carb and check it.

I have a 2004 honda crf 250 and I hear a squeaking noise near the airbox when the bike is idiling sometimes, when I bring the RPM's upo it goes away, is it anything to worry about?

crf 250 2004 useda fcr old version carburator that make noise when you're motor is not making enough vacuum (at idle) this noise come from the carburetor slide kind of wiggling in the carb d'ont have to care about it...if it get you crazy then move to newer version of crf 250 carb...they are less accoustic.

My 2005 Crf 250 r will not start by kicking when cold if you roll it it will fire right up like it should runs great after you get it started the first time what are some simple things that i could try to...

Add water to the battery. Enough to cover the plates in each cell.
The battery may be on its' last legs. If you don't have a 1 or 2 amp charger, push start the bike and ride for a few hours. This should charge the battery < IF > it will still take a charge. If it won't take a charge and hold it then it's time for a new battery.

The reason you can push start the bike is that the flywheel is able to spin fast enough to generate enough current to provide spark. Kick starting won't do that. Just because a battery has SOME power does't mean it has ENOUGH power to do as needed.
