At a stop it wants to turn off, not always only sometimes. As soon as I place it in nutral is goes back to normal. But as soon as I go bak to drive it wants to turn off, then I give it gas and it hesitates... I had the Idle Control replaced recently can it be defective?

With the Malibu I'm not able to ajust. It has always ran at about 700 rpms.
They did not find a vacuum leak.
But why would it go back to normal in nutral if it had a vacuum leak?

I had the throttle position sensor changed two weeks ago. But with the Malibu it does not offer many way to make ajustments. Everything is control by the computer. Can it be defective?

Your idle rpm's ar low take it up a liittle bit maybe 800 rpm at idle speed, how much is it at idle speed or it has a vacuum leak

  • Ottoniel Jul 24, 2009

start the car smash the break pedal, play with it up and down. If u hear the rpm's going up and down the master cylinder might have a leak, this working with vacuum and sometimes this affects at idle, try and tell me, have u replaced you fuel filter

  • Ottoniel Jul 24, 2009

maybe your fuel filter is clogged, try replacing it, they are not so expensive and u can changed it every 6 months

You did not give the year and model, but generally I would start with the key switch. The switch controls everything you mentioned.

After turning off the engine of my altima SE 1999 (103,000 miles) the radiators fans continue to run for almost 1-2 mins. (this is after driving 6-10 miles) I do not know if this is normal, but it worries...

A lot of cars have the fans running after the fact, they just cool down the temp a little, have you checked your coolant lately? Keep an eye on the temp gage on the dash, make sure it doesn't go very far, It should be very constant when running.

97 cherokee slips into nutral while driving

First place I'd go with this is check fluid level in transmission. If full, pull transmission pan and change fluid & filter. If there is an excessive amount of fine metal in pan, or excessive amount of non magnetic debris, it is likely that internal components in unit have worn out. At this point, sometimes changing fluid MAY prolong useful trans life, but generally there is no cure for wear, other than a rebuild. There are some chemical additives out there that will restore some seal integrity...I've had good luck with Lucas products. But, as I said, once it's worn it's worn!!!

98 Ford Explorer won't move in reverse

Sometimes it may just be the fluid level, if you have drive , drive it around the block a few times, then park it on level ground and hold the brake and go through all the gears slowley, two times. put it in park, open the hood and check the fluid level, the dip stick in the back by the fire wall, take it out and clean it, read the stick. SOME need to be checked in Nutral, if this is the case do so but be carefull that the truck has stopped moving when put in nutral!!! if it is low only put in the right fluid, and a little at a time, while it is still running DO NOT OVER FILL !!!!!!!! Also sometimes it is a SENSOR problem, and in most cases not to hard or costly to replace.
