You have a broken tooth on the first gear set. This means two gears will need replaced; the drive gear and the driven gear in first gear range. DON'T just replace the gear with the broken tooth. Replace the gear it meshes with also.

Gear knocks when shifting

please do say ,exaclty what knocks.
is this heard or felt or both.
is the sound inside car or outside,
there are 3000 parts in newer cars.
so direction to noise is complex , to the extreme

my guess, is car has a M/T tranny , a STICK, say so.....
and you are shifting and you mean the gears grind?
knocks , is something engines do ....
so you shift and all gears work? no not
you can shift up or down, so do all gears work or just 1 fails
and if fails tell use what you were doing.
driving on the road.?
or backing out of the driveway?
what?
give is CONTEXT. tell what you did, and what car did wrong.

My yamaha ttr-125 making noise when in 2nd gear but no noise in any other gears

I agree it is a broken tooth on second gear in the trasmission. You will need the trans. rebuilt before riding further or you will jam the transmission, Break more parts, & possibly break the main engine cases. DO NOT RIDE !

I have a 99 mustang gt & I know it needs either a pilot bearing or throwout bearing, but it started making a knocking noise when the car reaches @ 2200 rpm & stops after I shift gears! Does not...

your description is not clear. the throwout and pilot bearing only work when the pedal is depressed. and dont make knocking noises, so rule that out. If the noise is when the car is moving and in gear, the trans maybe bad. makes noise in all gears at 2200 rpm? trans needs to come apart.

There is a tic-toc noise coming from my bike as I accelerate. Chain and sprockets are fine. Is this my shifting cam?

The shift drum would not make any noise, ever. The drum will outlast all of us. All it does is move clockwise and counterclockwise as the rider pushes the shift lever up or down as needed. Go to an empty parking lot or roadway and start out slowly in 1st gear, slowly gaining speed. Does the knock show up? Now go into 2nd gear and slowly gain speed. Is the knock there? Do the same for all the gears. If the knock is only in one or two gears the problem is a broken gear tooth. When the broken gear is replaced, also replace any other gear the broken gear meshes with. Whatever broke the tooth also put the same pressure on the meshing tooth. If the meshing gears are not replaced you will have the pleasure, ( and expense ), of doing the repair all over again when the cracked tooth on a meshing gear decides to break off. This usually happens within the first hour of riding the "fixed" bike. If the test shows no knock in the gears, then chances are the knock is a cam chain needing to be tightened. Please rate my answer. Thanks. tombones49_175.gif

2007 yamaha ttr 125 wont go into gear. starts fine. try to shift no matter if you try first or second or any gear it won't go into gear just idles and wont move

gear selector may be jammed inside the casing or broken
check that the shifter is tight on the shaft!
check clutch adjustment
try rocking bike back n forth without using clutch while you try ******* the gear lever it may come unstuck
but get it looked at if it frees up!
