I haven't seen one of those for 40 years!

The Braided cable goes to battery negative -
They normally have a Red Cable to the battery Positive +
And if I recall, there is an inline fuse in the positive?

check its sparking all the time first if its not chech the coile then the cdi unit, it may also be down to lack of fule getting to that pot?

very likely he s installed the incorrect part...verify the part numbers and check the tensioner set up

the best way is to back bleed your clutch its the only way to get all the air out.

You can download the service manual for nix from here. trying to picture what you are looking at, but if they are the only rubber hoses coming off the carby, then they are most probably the fuel lines. If they come off the very top of the carby, then they may be breathers. The bike has a vacuum operated petcock also, you will need to have it in prime position for the carbs to fill. Then once the engine runs, if the petcock os working correctly, then you should be able to get fuel in on position. Just cranking it over will not created enough vacuum for the carbies to fill.,hence the prime setting.
