Question about Honda CBR 600 F(2)R Motorcycles

1 Answer

Bike starts in neutrel but when i shift into gear it dies.i did notice that the headlight high/low switch has been re routed. it doesn't connect to the key switch now. they ran a direct power wire to a fuseable link and then to a toggle switch then to the high/low beam switch. if the wire that is supposed to be connected that runs from the power source of the switch to the key switch, if thats not connected will it cause the bike to die when shifted into gear.

First your statement about the rewired headlamp switch is a worry, all your wiring would now be suspect and have to be verified. Did it ever work correctly? If you have a side stand switch it could be broken or also incorrectly wired and kills the engine when you put it in gear, that feature is there to prevent an accident by attempting to drive with the side stand still down. Look there, if you don't have a wiring diagram for the bike, then purchase a service manual, it will become your favorite bedtime reading for awhile. Good Luck!

First noticed the idle was really high last night when I started it. It returned to normal pretty quick. Battery light was on fire a minute it went off, battery is only 4 months old. Today, riding home...

sounds like the charging system is not charging when the battery is low the starter will not disengage properly disconnect battery and charge it while battery is out with bike in a high gear 4th 5th push bike back and forth this should unengage starter once your battery is charged and back in bike if the starter engages and dis engages properly then you will need to test your stator output with a multi meter look on you tube for video to test stator good luck

2005 Boulevard c90 will die when put into gear?

Sounds like a kickstand safety switch that may be faulty or possibly unhooked, the best way too find out is to turn off your ignition of course then connect the two wires together, try starting your bike up and shift it into gear, If that works then you need too replace your stand switch, its not advised too run without your stand safety switch so replace it right away if it turns out faulty.

Headlights not working, rpm gage not lighting up, neutrel light not coming on

Hi Anonymous, and the usual suspects are:
1.Ignition/Light Key Switch not in IGNITION position.
2.Engine Stop switch in the OFF position.
3.Discharged battery, loose or corroded connections (solenoid chatters).
4. Bank Angle Sensor tripped and Ignition/Light Key Switch not cycled to Off and then back to Ignition
5. Starter control circuit, relay or solenoid faulty.
6. Electric starter shaft pinion gear not engaging or over-running clutch slipping.

1990 Yamaha FZR 1000 headlight not working

Hi, Justen if your headlight is not working, only one beam works, keeps burning out, blinking, dim or surges from bright to dim to bright the first thing you need to check is the headlight bulb for damaged filaments then check your light circuit fuse, then check your head light bulb socket ground wire for a clean tight connection, that being said the usual suspects are:
1. Faulty ground or power supply wire to headlight bulb socket.
2. Worn down solder contacts or loose fit of the bulb base in the socket due to vibration.
3. Worn, chafed, or broken wires in the light circuit.
4. Corroded, broken, or loose pins/sockets in wire connectors.
5. Faulty hi/low beam switch.
6. Faulty ignition switch.
7. Fuse is good but no continuity on both sides.
8. Faulty headlight relay.
9. Faulty wiring between battery positive and headlight bulb socket.
10. Weak charging alternator/generator/lighting coil
11. Faulty voltage regulator/rectifier ground or overcharging.

What is the yellow button for , on the front side of the handgrip opposite the throttle?

There are two yellow buttons on the left side. The front side is a "Flash to pass" that is a momentary switch connected to the high beam side of the headlights. The other on the lower side facing the rider is a transmission shift selector. You press this this selector button to run in the full automatic mode where the bike changes gears automaticly or press the button again to be able to shift the gears up and down with the rocker switch located on the upper left side of the control. With practice you can shift smoothly and get better milage when shifting manualy. Your gear indicator under the spedometer should show what mode or gear you are in. Don't worry about downshifting. The bike will do that for you. If you need more power you can press the bottom side of the shifting toggle to shift one gear lower each time you press it.

A word of caution... This bike is more powerfull and responcive than just about any bike the same size and many other larger bikes. You do not have much time on one if you are asking this type of question. Take the bike out when traffic is not heavy and learn how to control it. There is a difference in riding a weak pony and a wild horse. Stay away from the POWER button until you are ready for flight.... and HANG ON !!!

When i start my bike and let my clutch out it dies

Your bike is in kickstand mode, the wires must be damaged or something. Or,,, your tranny is shifting into 4th gear and you are trying to take off in high gear, won't happen. Check out the kickstand switch, then make sure you are in first, then if that isn't it, you have a serious carburetor problem, Like the high speed jets don't exist or are clogged, when did this start? and what was it doing last time it was ridden?

I have a 2003 ktm 250sx and when shifting at high rpm's it won't shift.

How is your clutch? Does it slip or drag when starting out? When you put it into 1st gear when starting out does the bike lunge forward? Hold it in first gear with the clutch in and rev the bike up. See if the bike wants to move forward with the clutch in.It sounds to me like your clutch isn't set right or getting worn out. Much easier to shift at low rpms on a clutch than high rpms. I hope this helps...

Car will not start in park, but will start in neutrel. Car will die as soon as you put it in reverse.

have your neutral safety switch checked or adjusted. if engine dies as soon as it is shifted to reverse, does it so the same when you shift it to drive? if on reverse only, idle is set too low.

Bike is going back from second gear to neutrel

DickCanFixIt is probably right in his answer. But before you work on the transmission to replace a bent shift fork try this > When the bike shifts to neutral is your toe under the shift lever or on top?
If toe is under the lever then loosen the shifter lock nut and raise the front of the pedal two notches. If your toe is under the lever lower the lever two notches. It could be your shoe is causing the problem.
