1993 plymouth sundance. how do i tell if my fuel pump is bad? i cant think of any other reason for why the car is acting the way it is

Started car. it ran for about 10 miles, then started sputtering like it wasnt getting enough gas. started to slow down, then stalled out. engine turned over but it would not stay on. waited an hour, car fired. made it two miles down the road and it all happened again. except now the car will turn over but not fire. i think its the fuel pump but im not sure

SOURCE: 1993 Volvo 850 fuel issues

it is the fuel pump for sure. If you can hit the tank and get it to run it is the pump. this drain back (hard start after sitting) is a fuel pump issue as well

SOURCE: Car stalled and won't start again

Hello, this may be a bad fuel filter becuase if you ran your fuel real low you may have sucked some corrosion or rust into your system. You may need to purge your system of air through a fuel pressure valve which is near your throttle body. Be careful however when pressing this valve with a screwdriver becuase fuel pressure can puncture your skin. I would replace your fuel filter, and fresh gas, bleed your fuel system, and possibly replace your spark plugs and this should help you. If this does not work you probaly have a bad filter on your fuel pump in your tank there is a like a little sock on the end of that fuel pump which can give inadequate amounts of fuel to your system becuase of it being clogged. Thank You.

SOURCE: Car stalled and won't start again

Sounds like it might be either the fuel filter or the fuel pump, cause if you ran the tank down, you probably had sludge in the bottom of the tank that you sucked into the engine, you can try using a fuel system cleaner, you may have sucked sludge into the injectors running it, Zmax sells a fuel system cleaner, or there is one called RUN RIGHT, I would try putting some of that in letting it sit a few min then after it sat a few to soak in and break down the sludge, then start the car up, kick your idle up to around 1500 RPM do not go higher then that cause you will damage the engine, try that and see if that works for you, if not then I is probably the fuel pump or filter.
hope this helps.

Where is the fuel pump fuse on a 94 plymouth sundance

I would not think a fuse would be the problem. A fuse either blows or it is good. The relay might be at fault, but I would think it is the pump going bad.

any time you replace the fuel pump you MUST replace the fuel filter. Sounds like it could be a couple of different things. Pick up coil if it has a distributor. bad coil pack. Replace fuel filter first .Good Luck!!!!

Have fuel pressure tested, or at the least, change fuel filter. Fuel pump may be on it's way out but it only takes 5 minutes to test the fuel pressure to confirm.

1993 Plymouth Sundance 2.2L cranks, no start

When you turn the ignition on the pump is energized for 2 to 3 seconds. did you check it like that. it is also energized when cranking the engine. there is a fuse then a relay then the fuel pump. the relay is ran/ energized by the ecm computer. if there is a fuse relay box under the hood you'll need to check there to. good luck

1993 Plymouth Sundance will not start or turn over?

Make sure battery is fully charged. Connect a test light to battery ground and touch batt+ to check if light. Now test that there is power to the starter heavy wire directly connected to the starter. If power, good. Now test for cranking power to solenoid wire which is on top of starter; have someone cranks as you check for power. If there is power, starter could be acting up. If not, check all fuses and neutral switch. Be careful working around moving and hot parts.

Stall as soon as oil light came on..92 sundance

I don't think a 92 sundance will shut the fuel pump down when the oil pressure is low, but it might. Can you get it to run on carb cleaner. If it is oil pressure, the car should start then run a few seconds and die. Have you checked the timing belt? If it broke the distributor will stop turning which would stop the oil pump.
