Sounds like the speedo cable needs to be lubricated. I'm not familiar with the GB 400 but a flickering or bouncing needle is a cable problem. Take care of lubricating it so. Neglecting it can lead to a broken cable which is a more difficult and expensive job. Good luck.

My headlights and dash lights flicker and now my wipers dont work

If the car cranks well then might have a loose connection to dashboard or a bad ground. I don't think this is much help but might be a starting place.

2000 odyssey speedometer needle stuck past 140mph

I also had the same problem. After calling around to get quotes in the $100+ for junkyard clusters I decided to tear the thing apart to see what was up. Once apart I noticed the speedo and tach needles are weighted to drop the needle to 6 o'clock. All I had to do was spin the speedo needle back to the rest and all was well. I'm guessing when we reset the trip odometer there must have been a short in the board that pulsed the speedo and caused it to spin beyond return. I tested the trip buttons a few times and no short yet. please give me a good rating :) i only need one more! thanks a bunch!

1983 honda goldwing speedometer not working

Had the same problem with my GL 1100 I. A rock had kicked up and hit the speedometer cable mount at the fork and split the plastic screw mount. The cable terminus started to back out from the fork. Any way went to Honda spent $12.00 on a new speedometer cable and installed it in about 10 min.

Speedo problem

Your spedo needle could be bent.

I noticed that many of the dial needles are bent from the heat.

Because the plastic face of the instruments is angled back when it reaches towards the 100km mark the needle touches the plastic and cant go any further.

I used a bent paperclip and a stick and put the paper clip though the tripmeter hole and used it to push the needle back. Its best to do this in summer when the interior gets more hotter and it will slightly bend the spedo needle back.

Toyota has a needle kit to replace them

Good luck,
Eitan.
