Hi
If its the handle bar grip you are referring to, they are a slide on fit... can take some initial leverage to get them off, go carefully and prise it away.

How do i change grips on a harley davidson?

Are you wanting to know how to remove the current installed grips to put on the new ones? Try compressed air under the edges of the grip. If you are going to throw away the old ones, you can cut off the outer end of the grip and then blow compressed air from that end. Also can use a long screwdriver to make room. Another option is to spray some WD40 under the grip. The throttle side may be glued on and take more work.

Putting the new ones on, you don't want to get stuck half way. They sell a rubber cement for grips that you can apply to the inside of the grip and will initially be slick and aid in putting the grip on. You don't have to use glue on the left, but will probably need to use it on the throttle side. If the rubber is too stiff, you can carefully warm it to a pliable point with a heat gun but be cautious not to over do it.

Enjoy your next ride.

2000 Sportster 883, the throttle grip does not work. It turns in clockwise position but does not engage engine.

I don't really understand what you're saying. You say your throttle grip turns in the "clockwise position" but doesn't engage the engine. If you look from the end of the throttle grip, turning the throttle grip in the clockwise direction would be turning the grip towards the idle position. Turn the throttle grip in the counterclockwise direction as viewed from the end of the grip to get the engine to speed up.

If the throttle grip does not seem to control the engine, then either the throttle grip is not secure on the throttle sleeve or you have broken cables.

Good Luck
Steve

How to change foam on handles

See if you can unscrew the handle bar first.
Then search for replacement foam online, maybe on ebay or bugaboo website.
And when you have bought the replacement foam grips, you can take a look here to see how to attach them yourself.

html Bike grips and stroller handles work the same way.
I just used this post on e-how to replace my maclaren triumph foam handles.
Works like a charm - and it's sooo easy!! :)

How to install new grips to my harley 2006 sportster xl1200c

pay attention to how it comes apart so it will be easier for you to replace.
there are 2 torx head bolts near the end of the grips in a cast alloy housing which also holds the mirrors in place, undo the bolts and remove, this will let the grips slide off the handle bars but on the right side you will have to undo the adjusting nut on the throttle cable and release the tension to be able to remove the cable from the grip so you can slide that off as well

Harley Heated Hand Grips not working

The harley heated handgrips are notorious for failing.  Some people have reported finding a loose connection on the ground wire, like they did not crimp the terminal on the end of the wire at the factory.  If they are wired externally of the bars (almost impossible to wire those any other way) then it should be easy to follow the wire down to inside the headlight bucket or in the nacelle or dash, (depending on what model bike) and check the connections.  If both grips quit at the same time then it's probably wiring.  If one quit first, then it may be the grip itself.
If you need to replace them, I would highly recommend not buying the HD brand anymore, and instead choose Polly grip heaters.  They are made for snowmobiles and have a long list of benefits over the HD type: - fits internally in the bar end, so you can use any grips you want - cost $35!!  compared to $250 for HD - easy to install
I have installed over 7 sets in my friends bikes and not one single failure.
