if you put aa bit of gas in there, yes, it should try to fire. basic test , try turnining over the motor a few times.remove plug, if dry , no gas is getting there, if wet you have an ignition problem.make sure your airfilter is clean, a restriction will cause a carb not to supply fuel . send me details after

If your getting no fuel at all to the carb then its the petcock valve it works off of vacume so take fuel line off and spin it over if fuel runs out then its fine that means your needle valve in carb maybe stuck. and in my case a stick pulled the vacume line off the intake that controls the petcock valve.

2002 kia sedona will not start, new starter , sounds like not getting gas or maybe flooding any ideas

If you smell gas it is getting gas, if not check the fuel filter. Next thing to check is to see if there is a spark. Remove the spark plug from the engine. Have someone crank the engine with the spark plug grounded, see if there is a spark. Also check for the smell of gas in the spark plug hole.

My Honda VTR 1000 will not start i let it set for about two years, when i went to start it back fired so i tried using my car to jump it off, now its will not turn over any ideals on why it want turn over.

You could have many issues with a bike that has sat for that long. Mainly fuel system trouble. As to why it won't turn over after trying to jump it...first place to look is your fuses.
Not much information to go by but make sure the engine has not hydrolocked from gasoline leaking past the needle valves into one or more cylinders. You cannot compress a liquid and the engine will lock if the cylinder(s) get raw fuel into them.
An indication of a hydrolocked engine is a click followed by a buzzing as the starter tries to turn the engine but can't.
Pull the spark plugs, make sure your ignition is off, and turn the engine over by hand. Lift the rear tire off the ground, put it in gear and rotating the tire by hand. If the cylinders have raw gas it will come out of the plug hole with some force. Do not pull the plugs an try to turn the engine over with the start button as gas flying out the spark plug hole may become ignited by sparks from the plug wires / plugs.

2007 Honda Elite 80cc scooter will not start when colder than 50 degrees

Hi, Stephen and the usual suspects are:
1. Fuel tank empty.
2. The fuel tank has old dead gas.
3. Fuel tank bottom contaminated with ethanol sludge, dirt, water, rust, etc.
4. Fuel supply valve/petcock turned off.
5. Fouled spark plugs.
6. Engine flooded as a result of overuse of the choke.
7. Vacuum hose to the fuel supply valve/petcock disconnected, broken, cracked, or pinched.
8. Fuel valve/petcock or filter clogged.
9. Fuel line to carburetor or throttle body pinched, kinked or blocked.
10. Carburetor float stuck.
11. Fuel injectors clogged.
12. Fuel injectors stuck open.
13. Severely discharged or a damaged battery should have 12.5 volts or more and be able to pass a proper "LOAD" test if necessary, you may have a cursory reading of 12.5 volts or more but little or zero amperage the battery is faulty and must be replaced, AGM batteries fail in this scenario more so than lead-acid batteries.
14. Check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
15. Loose or corroded wire connection at the coil or plug between ignition sensor and ECM module.
16. Spark plug cables in bad condition and shorting check for spark leakage in the dark, cable connections loose, or connected to the wrong cylinders.
17. Ignition timing incorrect due to a faulty ignition coil, ignition module or MAP, CMP, CKP, O2, TPS, ETP, IAC sensors.
18. Faulty neutral, clutch, kickstand safety switch.
19. Faulty fuel pump or fuse or relay.
20. A stuck bent or burnt valve.
21. Tilt sensor needs a reset.
22. Security system not disarming alarm needs a reset.
23. Check for engine trouble codes.

2002 honda vt 750 shadow spirit one cylinder won't fire what's the problems

Pull the plug out and test it on the frame. If no spark you need new plugs. If it does spark look at the plug. If the plug is black and wet it is getting to much fuel and flooding. You will need to adjust your carb's air to gas mixture.

ENGINE WILL NOT START

My power-washer suffers from same problem after sitting idle.

After paying for a new carburetor, I discovered how important it is to drain the gas if washer is going to sit idle.

Another time, we had a problem with the screen covering exhaust outlet. Deposits from the engine + dirt clogged the screen. Although it's not the solution for everybody, we broke the screen open with a screwdriver and the machine ran fine after that.

Small gas engines require 3 things. Compression, spark, and fuel. Take out spark plug. Put finger over spark plug hole and pull cord or push starter. Do you feel suction? If yes, then you have compression.

If machine will not turn over at all, then your motor might have run out of oil. Power washer needs oil in 2 places. It needs oil for the engine just like a lawn mower. Oil plugs are located low on each side of engine. It doesn't hurt to change oil, but do NOT NOT turn small engine upside down or oil will get into carburetor which requires removal and cleaning. I learned that the hard way.

The power washer also needs oil for the pump head. This is the box attached to front of engine. Usually 10W20 non-detergent is a good choice. Oil is usually about half way up inside pump head.

Now hook spark-wire back to spark plug. Hold spark plug in hand. Touch threads of spark plug to metal spark plug opening. Now pull cord or push starter. Do you see sparking in the spark plug gap? If yes, then you have spark. Put new spark plug in anyway. If no, then you need parts from small engine repair service.

Spark plug is in. Take off air filter so you have access to carburetor air intake. Put fresh gas in tank. Use starter spray or WD-40 as a starting accelerant. Set your choke to start engine. Spray starter fluid into carburetor opening and pull cord or push starter. The engine should fire up on the starter fluid. If engine doesn't fire, then try setting choke in different positions. If engine doesn't fire up then carburetor is suspect.

If engine fires but dies, keep spraying starter fluid into carburetor to see if you can keep it going that way ... and then move choke in different positions ... you might need extra hands for that maneuver.

If machine turns on, but dies when filter is put back, then filter might be clogged. Time for a new filter anyway.

Finally check the fuel filter and fuel line below the gas tank. It usually has a hex head bolt. Loosen bolt and see if fuel is able to fall out of tank. Loosen rubber fuel line at both ends and see if fuel is flowing. This will tell you if fuel can get to carburetor.

Usually these measures get the thing going or tell you if professional service is needed.

I have a 1991 honda cr 250 I cant get to start at fist gas ran right thru carb and out bottom i took carb apart and got the floats to stop sticking cleaned it out with carb cleaner put back together but...

try a new spark plug. if u fowl out a plug some time they will not fire under compression.2 strokes need. fuel, fire and air, very simple engines.it is possible crank seal are bad .that doesn't allow the engine to create vacuum in the crank case.thus fuel and air will not make it to combustion chamber.

for any motorcycle to run you need three things. spark, fuel and compression. i see you've tried to get fuel and spark. if you have spark thats one down. dont pour fuel into cylinder. instead spray tiny bit of brakeclean or carb clean into spark plug hole. i have a feeling if you drained your gas after the carb clean the carb most likely sucked bad gas back up and might need cleaned again. ive seen it happen alot on ols bikes.
