Question about 2008 Honda CBR 600 RR
I broke my key and the locksmith made a new one which works for everything except it doesn't lock the steering wheel. I called Honda and they can't provide me a code because they said they did not hold on to them after this many years and since I bought it used and not from them they wouldn't have it anyways. So I asked what I should do and Honda in the locksmith both said to take the ignition off and take it to the locksmith and he will perfect the key. So does anybody know how to take it off?

im not sure about that as i think you need a key actualy in it to remove it, was is same key as your ignition? if you have old ignition take that to locksmith and see if he can cut you a key to fit. the locksmith would probably drill it out for you . to be honest those type of steering locks are not much good anyway, i had my kdx 250 stolen and they just snapped the steering lock with a sharp twist of the bars.. better off with a DISC lock.

SOURCE: need to take lock cylinder out
You must unscrew the top yoke from the front system and turn it upside down to unscrew the bolts that holds the lock on the yoke.Perhaps the bolts need a hammer and something pointy (with sharp end) cause usually they are headless and you cannot use any tool. After that you should take it to the locksmith and you should not try to disassemble the lock itself. It is very sensitive and you can easily damage it or loose something from it.

your bast bet is to contact a main dealer they will want reg,vin and engine number to order you a new key dont disconect the ignition because if there is a moblizer on it you will need to reprogramme the brain will work out exspensive, contact main dealer first
